Well, you are perfect Cynthia, and if TM is on your coattails, he is too!! Bobbie - red is good - lol. For Cyn and TM: For Annette and Bobbie: Thanks to all for playing; instead of a bunch of cutting and pasting I'm going to give you the link below. It's fun and has movie cars in it too. Kind of sad at the end, cause the author laments the loss of the iconic car mascots. I watch one series, Supernatural, where the car is seen as the metaphorical home for the 2 heroes - it is a 1967 black Impala that had belonged to their father. Like the brothers, it has come back from the dead a few times. They were going to use a Mustang, but the Impala is muscle car that blends, but as the writer says, if it pulled up to you at a traffic light, you'd lock your doors. And the trunk is big enough to hold a body!! See you all next week. Nancy. Here is a link that might be useful: 25 most Iconic Vehicles

A diesel engine may be harder to start at high altitude because of reduced air density. Glow plugs provide a very good assist for starting a diesel. Interestingly, since modern diesels are almost uniformly turbocharged, high altitude often leaves them in better shape than normally-aspirated gas-engined vehicles at high altitudes. Since the formation of nitrous-oxide increases with temperature and pressure, it becomes one of the problem components in the exhaust when the operation of a diesel engine approaches it maximum torque (lugging). Dropping to lower gear and spinning the engine faster at lower torque reduces, but does not eliminate this polutant. True. There's some discussion now that the introduction of post-combustion treatment (like BLUETEC, etc.) can allow the combustion event to produce more NOx than current restricted values because now it can be cleaned up before it leaves the vehicle. That's what killed the diesel in America. In 1980 GM used a car 350 engine and converted it to diesel. It was a total disaster. The engine wasn't strong enough to handle the conversion. In fairness, IDI diesels in general were smoky and slow. While the 350 conversion was a disaster, it did not explain the marketplace failures of the diesel Chevette, Ford's Topaz/Tempo diesels, diesel Corollas, etc., none of which used poorly-converted gasoline engines. And the new diesels are every bit as quiet as a gasoline engine. No longer can you hear a diesel 300 yards away. Well, the diesel passenger cars are. Diesel pickups and SUVs are still quite loud for reasons that I think have more to do with gaining attention than converts. Something macho about driving a vehicle that sounds like a dump truck, I guess.

funny, my toyota manual says 'inspect' every 30K. I just had my car in and opted out of the 60K reccomended service...a bunch of checks and an oil change and tire rotataion and filter changes for $379...did not include ANY fluid changes like tranny or coolant......thats extra if needed. I instead opted for the 'free' fluid check with an oil change where they supposedly can check the fluids (from coolant to tranny to brake to power steering) and definitively tell you what needs changing. To my suprise they said the fluids were all fine...even at 60K. So long as it keep my extended warranty in effect....which it does... The dealer does do the tranny flush with the machine but they said it was not warranted at this time. From what I have read about that flush...if you get every 30K it should never be a problem but if you wait till 90K it could do more harm than good...you'd have to google to get the specifics...something about metal shavings being pulled places they should not go....? IMO, with a car out of warranty I would not chance it unless I have had it done every 30K or so....and since the dealer said my fluid was good and have not yet had it done....and my warranty ends at 75K so...I'll likely never have that machine do it...
