Hmmm, not sure about that--those things shed really bad, might end up with feathers in my food! LOL

spray them with hair spray and it cuts the shedding down some!! i have used them to make multi colored wreaths, and the hair spray really made a difference! I think the idea looks really pretty and festive!

Hmmm! Kathleen, for Valentines, I have collected quite a few cupid pieces that I plan to use in the stacked plates. I will probably use my red roses since I have quite a few of them already and the white cupids will show up good against them. I'd better start thinking about what I want to do since I will probably need to shop. ;o) Jenn, those gold sparkly candles were on sale at Marshall's and while really pretty, I don't know what to do with them, Just seems they need to be in some kind of an arrangement. Lynne, the thrill of the hunt is half the fun! Surprising what we can find sometimes. I'm trying to look at things and think how I could use them in a vignette or centerpiece, but I don't think I have a knack for it! ;o( But I'll keep trying just because it is fun. ;o) Karen, you are doing great with the stacked plates. Bird figurines sounds cute, hope you come up with a plan so you can show us a new "creation". ;o) I just have to keep "playing" and "experimenting" partly because it is sort of fun, and partly because I am really trying to learn what things go well together. Hope you all had a little fun looking. Now back to the packing up and putting away Christmas decos! LOL Luvs

Delph, how do you remember those things, LOL...I don't dislike them ...only in my house! :) They are very cute to look at...Some might feel that way about my 4 little gkids! And thank you! OA, I don't think the dishes are older than the napkins...she didn't always have them...somewhere along the line she acquired them....and she really didn't want to give them to me! I kind of twisted her arm...:) One of my other sisters got her good china and gorgeous china chargers when we split up her house.... And no way could I make any of you look bad! Maryanne! so we "named" our tables after our favorite writers/philosophers. I found wonderful quotes that involved marriage, love or friendship from each of the writers/philosophers, and framed it (with 5x7 frames). People said they really enjoyed going from table to table to read what the other quotes said; it encouraged mingling! Each table had a stack of hardback books and i wrapped them in a thick piece of ribbon that matched the bridesmaids dresses and then wrapped that in a thin piece of rafia and tied it on top. (does that make any sense?). Instead of a table number we used quotes so i went to bed bath and beyond and bought 10 frames (about 10 bucks each) and typed up a quote from the author of the table. For instance there was a JD Salinger table and it said: Salinger Table It's just like a girl to go ahead and do that they wind up saying something amazing and you go falling head over heels in love with them (okay that isn't the exact quote but it was something like that from catcher). So the picture frame with the quote was placed on top of the books so it was higher and easy to read and on either side I had two little candles and I tied rafia around the clear candle holders to match the kind on the books. This idea is an obvious fit for academic/literary types, but could be extra funny with cheap romance novels and pulp fiction, which you can get for pennies at any second hand store. Stack 'em and wrap 'em in ribbons Â suddenly trashy fiction becomes an entertaining conversation piece. Stick a wedding-branded bookmark in 'em and they're kitchy favors! Like Muglies, only readable.

Hi M! How are you….yes I am in MI it has been about 2 months..we are so happy..my husband has retired and we found our home close to friends and family…so blessed! We have been having a lot done to the house..landscaping..painting and finishing the basement…it’s a lot at once but we figure do it all at once than it will all be done in July and than no more contractors.

I agree, Jaybird. However I think the boa would be waaaaay too much temptation for the Brat Cat. I am positive he'd love me to decorate with one! LOL

Snolady, Thanks for sharing this with us. I have a pink boa (it doesn't have the pretty feathers though) that would look really pretty for a Valentine's and Easter deco on a side table in my living room.

I stopped by Big Lots the other day and they had heart wreaths covered in feathers. Came in red or pink. Just thought someone might want to know. ;o) Luvs

It is a nice idea... I bet that clear floral spray paint that Michael's has (DesignMaster, I think it's called) would work well to preserve the feathers and prevent shedding, too.

Michaels had had some cute feather wreaths at Christmas. I'd gotten one with peacock feathers.

I am getting married in July '09 and would love to do a feather boa centerpiece!! How did you make that?

It's not my craft. Just one I found online. I would think you could either glue a feather boa to a styrofoam wreath shape or some flat cardboard cut in a wreath shape and set the glass inside it. Anyone else got any ideas how this craft might have been made.
