I havent used one before, but I will have one in the new kitchen.

My sink is a little ways from the stove top. Wouldnt have been that big of a deal but a little inconvenient, and my second sink is in the coffee center in the other corner, so I opted against a sink in the island and went with the pot filler.

It is hooked up to the RO line.

If the budget allows, it might be a "nice" for you, but if not, sounds like your sink might be plenty close? Should be handy for carrying big pots of water, and close enough for those hurry up and add water moments.

My pot filler itself wasnt very expensive, found a great buy on ebay, just have to think about the additional plumbing expense and we had another person run all the RO lines.

Love mine and would put one in again.

We have one. My dh really wanted it. Ironically, he doesn't cook. But I digress. It is nice, but I could live without it. I mean, it is functional, but walking a few feet with a pot of water wouldn't be that big a deal either. I have found it gets a big wow factor from guests. Still scratching my head over that.
Not sure it is worth the expense.

I thought about it, but decided it wasn't worth the added expense. Now, if it was a filler/siphon combo to *empty* the big pasta pot of water after the pasta was cooked...but since I have to lift the pot to drain it into the sink 3 ft away, not a big deal to fill it and move it either.

I am with ajsmama - I can't really see the great benefit of a pot filler when you have to the carry the same pot, now filled with boiling/very hot water back to the sink anyway!

I can see that. But also, my left arm isnt as good as it use to be, tore something or the other in my shoulder throwing a saddle and it is the same arm I broke when my horse fell, so any time I can use it less, is a good thing.

I tried to plan this house for some convenience for our old age for the next 20, 25 years so I think it will be even nicer in years to come.

But also, I find myself many times needing to hurry up and add water while I am cooking. I see using it for that as much as anything. My kitchen office where I will spend most of my time with my laptop, is farthest away from the sink, and the stove is in between, so I think for me and the way I cook (attention deficit), it will work out great :-) By the time the water cooks off, I am ready to add the sauce, problem solved haha

I've heard that in some places, pot fillers won't meet code, because they require a drain anywhere there is running water (in case of a leak, I guess). Anyone run into that?

You might think of having a small bar type sink across from the stove. Easy place to pour off water. The pot filler is great for canning. It is one of those things you don't "need" but you will be so happy with it after using it a few times.

I don't want to get a pot filler, but I might end up with one anyway, because most kitchen faucets have a water-saving flow rate, while a pot filler has a much higher gpm. I'd have to check this to make sure, but I'd consider getting one just to be able to fill things more quickly.

Maybe I should work on my patience instead. Or fiddle with the kitchen faucet to adjust the flow rate.

We'll have one. I really like the way they look, but I think we'll use it a lot too. We have a large family and cook a lot of one pot dishes that don't require draining before serving, like soups, stews, beans, rice. We're a walk by the stove and fill your own plate kind of family, so it's not like someone has to lift a heavy pot anyway. I also like the quick filling aspect and the ability to add water mid cooking when needed. But really, I think they look cool.:-)
