Well, I took a look at the KA fridge and it certainly looks like it would complement oven designs from other manufacturers.

Why not stick with the fridge you like and go hunting for convection/speed pairs?

In addition to the KA, there is GE Advantium and Miele and (lest we forget Gary's fav) Electrolux available to get the matching pair look with the 240V speed oven capability.

It also looks to me like the KA Speed oven wouldn't look too bad with either the GE Monogram wall oven or the LG or the 800 series Bosch from a motif aspect, not sure about how they would match up as far as the color of the stainless, though. Sorry can't help more in that area. One thing I do know is that if you stick with Miele they will match beautifully and look great and will doubless exceed your expectations while putting a serious dent in your bank account in the process.

We have gone round-and-round with the same issue (but more dealing with the handles and not the variation of SS). Based on everything we've read, we're planning to buy the KA FD counter-depth fridge and the GE Monogram Advantium and 30" oven with euro handles.

Anyone have this combination in close proximity to each other?

We are off to the appliance store tomorrow to study the appliances more closely. We will check out the suggestions and report back. Thank you.

I too am wondering about the KA ovens. Specifically the 24 inch model KEB147VSS. I have actually been told by an appliance salesperson that it would be advisable NOT to use the self clean function on ANY oven, including Miele, because the heat just cooks the wires and the electronics. Would appreciate hearing views about that. So I'm thinking -- get a non self clean oven or at least plan not to use the function --

We went to 5 appliance retailers today. Our goal was to keep the fridge and replace the oven/speedcook combo. But, we were open to replacing all 3 if needed.

Requirements:
1. The 3 pieces must look good together.
2. The fridge is FD counterdepth with interior water dispenser and icemaker.
3. The oven must fit a large pampered chef pizza stone which we carried with us to test. The stone is 15" round. Often we find that the rack angles in the back preventing the stone from fitting or the convection oven hatbox sticks out too much for the stone to fit.
4. Would really like the oven racks to be either on ball bearings or full extension racks.

We did not reach a conclusion today. Here is what we learned:

1. We could not find a dealer in our area that actually had a Miele oven to look at in person. Several had DW but no ovens. We did find a kitchen design showroom that had an old Miele oven and the pizza stone did not fit. Unfortunately, we don't find that test reliable because of the age of the oven.

2. All of the dealers claimed they never heard of any problems with the KA ovens, particularly the self-cleaning issues that have been discussed in this forum.

3. We really liked the JennAir oiled bronze look appliance finish! Anybody have any comments on that?

4. We didn't consider GE because of the thread we read here but can no longer find that discussed the fact that the advantium stainless color was not the same as the wall oven color. We can't remember if it was monogram or profile or didn't matter. We did actually see this problem in an appliance showroom so it scared us off.
a) can anyone point me to that thread again?
b) has anyone seen this problem with recent GE advantium purchases or maybe it went away?

5. We were told that the glass can break during self-cleaning when the metal rack is touching the glass.

6. Electrolux doesn't seem to make a convection microwave. Am I missing something?

So we still don't know what to do.
Does anyone have any feedback for us for
1) GE Advantium stainless color discoloration (Yellow tint) experience or old thread
2) Will my pizza stone fit in Miele oven?
3) Jennair - any comments? oil-bronzed finish - ??

GE stainless problems were because of replacement. Newer oven that need replacements will likely have no issues.

Miele has 3 diff. size oven avaialble today and we don't know the size of your pizza stone or the model/size oven you saw. If you have an enormous stone and looked at the 60cm oven I'm not supprised it didn't fit.

JA's bronze/ copper finish is uber trendy. If you really like it and are staying a while no reason to not get it.

5. Many of the ovens we looked at today were praised by the retailer as you could leave the racks in for self-clean. But, you pose an interesting thought - wonder what the situation was in those instances...

6. Of course, right after I posted, I discovered the Electrolux Icon website and found what I was looking for. Duh!

Thanks for the info on the stainless problem. I didn't recall that it was a replacement issue.

My stone is 15" or 38.1cm round. Not sure the size of the old oven as the showroom staff were busy with customers and we didn't wait around.

Agree that the JA finish is trendy. Cool, though.

6. For a little more money and a 240v circuit you can have the E'lux speed oven over the microwave.

If I keep the Kitchenaid Fridge, the Electrolux Icon Designer Series and the Miele handles are ok match.
If I go to a JennAir Fridge with the new handles, the Miele handles are even closer.
The Electrolux is more affordable and I like the ball bearing racks but I do not like the actual shape of the rack and the interior is very tight for my pampered chef pizza stone.

So, is the JennAir fridge's equivalent to Kitchen Aid from a reliability standpoint since they are both made by Whirlpool? The KitchenAid model is KFCS22EVMS and the same features in JennAir is model JFC2290VEM.
