Great ideas do not necessarily mean billion dollar budgets or a large corporation to be behind it. World over, in clean tech and renewable energy, small entrepreneurs and many amateurs are excited enough to try small, little efforts that could together make a big difference to the future of the world. For instance, here's one such interesting small idea for awareness creation, the Zero Energy Truck: "Zero Energy Truck all across India. The idea behind the ZET is to showcase how the importance of green buildings � essentially the inside of the truck tries to simulate a net zero energy building, through the use of renewable and green energy sources. The growth of Green Building materials and products has been very encouraging, but awareness needs to improve within the design & construction community. Since most of the green building materials and strategies are different from conventional construction practices it needs efforts to educate people and make them realize that green practices can be incorporated in every building. Oh well, you might say that this is a cute but trivial idea and most times, I would be inclined to agree with you. But somewhere down, I feel that the awareness about clean technology and sustainability might be better created through such cute and somewhat "naive" ideas than through than by sophisticated looking gentlemen who present complex charts and data. One time I had to bash in the sliding window of one of my trucks because I got locked out in a deserted place. It was a long time ago and don't really remember what it cost but I know it didn't cost $700. I took it to harmon or one of those glass shops and watched as they took out the whole rear window then dook out the sliding part and put in a new sheet of glass. It was a lot more labor than I thougt but I know I wasn't all that upset because it wasn't much. Maybe $50-$100 somewhere in there.

We had one outside on the deck, and the "flocking" wore off after a while wherever there was foot traffic.

Our idjit PO didn't bother to mask the windows when he sprayed the walls and trim (yes, walls and trim at the same time with the same paint) so every window has a fine, speckly film of paint that leaves the glass looking dingy. It's a nightmare to remove - everything from razor scrapers to green scrubby pads and noxious chemicals that melt your brain - so we've been very slowly pecking away at that when there's nothing more urgent to be done. DH washed the exteriors with the hose (theoretically the screens come off but the cheap plastic brackets break if you do so we don't touch them) last year but with that paint film it doesn't look clean anyway. All it does is rinse off the pollen, which does build up mighty thick all through the warm season. Some people should not be allowed access to paint sprayers.
