I would say "Yes. to the best of my ability, or I certainly will try".I wouldn't say, "Oh, yes! or I'll try, or some other "wishy washy" answer. A resonate "Yes" would tell me you are too eager, no or maybe, would not be good. Think positive and smile but don't over due it. Good luck. Of course, you will dress up a bit and don't appear in sneakers and blue jeans.You will shake hands if the interviewer extends their's first and of course say good morning or afternoon, and thank them for the interview when you leave.

Not really questions for the builder, but I have some important suggestions for the contract: First, there MUST be a written timeline, with penalties for getting behind. Every month you aren't in your new home, you'll be out for things like rent, and your builder should be accountable. Second, the payment schedule has to be such that it never makes more economic sense for your builder to walk away than fininsh your house. I've gotten in the bad position where they owe me more work than I owe them money with several people related to my build. It becomes impossible to get any attention.

My house is big and old. It would burn like a lit tinder box so honestly, if we get out it will only be because the sprinkler system saves us. I probably wouldn't try to save anything that wasn't alive. But if we get to have a fantasy fire that allows us time....I'd grab my jewelry because it's sentimental (gifts with memories) and probably the ugly little clay bowl that sits in the parlor next to a really nice bronze. The bronze is actual art...the ugly little bowl my son made for me this year in school (he's 5) and I love it far more than the fat nude LOL DH says he'd save the wine LOL Priorities! We actually just had a test of this by the way...we were at the blueberry hotel (if anyone remembers that) and at 3 am the fire alarms went off. DH and I nearly killed each other for setting the alarm that early and we pulled the clock out of the wall before we realized it was the hotel fire alarm. We dressed (idiots) and grabbed jewelry, car keys, the little guy and a six pack of formula. People were outside for over an hour, most in their jammies, most forgot any keys. We had left out ID and cell phones, so had the place burned we'd have been screwed til we found friends in town. I suppose I could have hawked a ring LOL We were glad we grabbed the car keys though. And at least we didn't forget the baby! It was kind of an eye opener though as to what you really would do because in the moment...your brain is NOT Engaged!

We ended up with the "good contractor" :) His bid was reasonable, (a preliminary figure) but did not include gas, electric and plumbing, so we're finalizing those figures this week. He'll also do a walk through with me and be sure he's gotten everything in the contract that we want done so that he can give us a guaranteed bid for the entire job. We'll then have the attorney review it just in case, and we may want to add a couple things (a time line with financial penalties is of top concern) as well as limits on change orders, etc. Anyhoo, I'm hoping by mid week next week we should have a contract signed and permits started so I can take one last quick trip out of town to see the mother in law with the baby, and then hunker down for work on the house in Mid May. Out of all of the interviews we did, we only received one solid bid. The others are still working on theirs, and one wanted $4,800 to give us a bid :) Since we'd had a bid previously from our original contractor, I knew generally where we should end up on costs, so when the one we liked came in with a figure, we knew we could move on comfortably. I can't wait to get going! I'm so far ahead of the game it's crazy, with all of my tile, fixtures, sinks, toilets, tubs, marble, granite, appliances, sitting here ready to go :) Which is very unusual on a typical job I'm told, so we're hoping it will flow comfortably. It won't be a perfectly wonderful experience...they never are, but we'll hope it's "ok". And the contractor just had a baby girl last week so we're hoping we can swap out part of the job for diapers my son's grown out of...heh heh :oP
