BT resistance in GMO is in a variety of pests...in GMO cotton it's becoming less effective for a variety of pests (especially boll worm) because too many farmers seem to think it's their right to plant a full field of BT rather than the suggested 20/80 non-BT/BT in order to give diversity to the pests. Well, it is their right, but it's a stupid use of their rights. Greed has caught up with some farmers in some areas and now they're having to use more expensive pesticide control measures. This is huge problem in developing countries (especially India) and the South-East US. In some areas of the South-East US it's currently a 50/50 (n-BT/BT) recommendation for cotton because of farmer misuse. Where they've tried to control it in India the farmers have turned to black/grey-market seed sellers to source their GMO cotton seed because they've been limited from legit sources based on the amount of known cropland they have. Some of that black market seed has caused residual issues...such as not really being GMO seed and farmers not applying correct pest control issues because they assume the plant will take care of it. Putting up a "poly tunnel" now is like locking the door after the burgler is inside! :-) It sounds to me like it's either an animal, like a rabbit or birds, or cut worms. For animals I would try Repels- All. For cutworms, you can put cardboard collars around plants to keep them away, but for radishes, that is impossible. If you are going to replants, I would put some Rotonone in a spray bottle, and spray only those seedlings from emergence until they are a few inches tall. The little holes in the leaves are probally flea beetles. While unsightly, the little holes are unlikely to hurt the plants overall health or damage youe crop. I would just leave that be! I wouldn't do it Lucy. As far as I can see all the mentions of this concoction come from one source and are being repeated by others raher than being based on experience. I am a pretty gungho gardener regarding various scares but foxglove is a plant I wouldn't play about with. It can have serious effects, not just a bit of a tummy upset. I grow them and look at them and that's all. I find that sawfly doesn't come every year. How many bushes do you have? I only have 4 albeit large ones and I have found that vigilance and hand picking work. Another idea I read is to spread a white sheet under the bush and shake it vigorously.

Thanx Gabby. I know what you mean. I guess many people finish it with some regrets...they are everywhere. You are to be commended, tho, because you really didn't choose the situation, so maybe more credit is due. I do hope spring comes quickly...still afraid of the ice, sleet and snow. I need to move to Fla....but then there are the hurricanes! HMMM...Derry
