I don't have pictures of our ancient MB, but I noticed that yours seems to be close to your neighbors. I am a fanatic about privacy, so I had wooden blinds installed on the large window in our MB. They've been up for 15 years and when we remodel later this year, we'll have new blinds. Am very satisfied with blinds, as they give almost total light control and can be adjusted for any privacy condition that one needs. If I were putting blinds above your tub, I'd add a valance or scarf or tie-back curtains to soften the look.

If you're thinking about curtains or other fabric treatments, you might have a look at countrycurtains dot com. They have a great selection of looks and their prices are very, very reasonable (and their customer service is excellent). At the very least you'll be able to see lots of window treatments, from contemporary to ultra-feminine.

Could I ask you about your shower? We're also probably going to install a drop-in. Where did you get yours, and what are its dimensions, height and width?

I think I'd put half-shutters across the bottom for privacy and a valance over the top for decoration.

I'd like to put something on the window that will allow the light to come in, but will keep it private. That window on the neighbors house isn't super close, but close enough!

The idea of shutters and a valance is also very nice. We have shutters in our bedroom and they are wonderful. But with shutters, you have to consider the necessary room if you're going to open them. And our cats have to sit on the bathroom sill and look out, so we needed something that could be raised and lowered. I do think that a fabric, at least partially, would look good in your space.

I used a valance in my bathroom and a plain shade beneath it. We use the shade a lot since our deck is right behind it. I got my shade from JC penney on sale and I made the valance myself using a high-end fabric I purchased and some beadwork. It was my first sewing project, and now I'm an AVID sewer. It was sooooooo (sewwwwww) easy. The shade just slides up behind the valance and is the same color as my walls.

Have you ever seen 'bottom up' cellular shades? In most shades, the top portion is fixed and you can raise or lower the bottom portion. 'Bottom up' shades are like 'upside down' shades -- the bottom portion stays fixed and the top can be adjusted to let in light above the 'view line'. Those and a valence and/or drapes for softness would be very attractive and functional.

I am not much help on the window treatment aspect since I got obscured glass and plan to cover them more with shutters. If you liked shutters that might be an option for you.

The bottom-up cellular shades are a good option. There are also bottom-up roman shades that would probably provide a little more privacy and a softer look. I'll have a huge window over the tail end of the tub in my new MB and I think I'm leaning toward a bottom-up roman shade. They're not cheap, but I think it's the right option.

I know this is off topic from what you need help with liptonjl. But...I was considering the same aker maax shower and tub/shower that you have in your new house. Problem is that I can only view them online. Are those ridges/shelf area wide enough to hold shampoo bottles?
