I suspects that is LED LCD HD.
The older LCD TV's used florescent lites to back lite the screen. The newer ones use LED's (Light emitting diodes) to back lite the screen. LED's draw less power and some manufactures are actually turning the LED's dim bright etc which improves contrast ratios (Dark versus lite, on screen).
Get the model number as if this is not the newer LED backlit one, then you are paying too much. You can google the model number and it will tell you what it is.
Can't help you with gas stove selection as I have induction but google its model number along with the Amana Fridge with the word "Reviews" to see how other users evaluated them.

Personally I would stay away from KA ranges. I have 3 KA appliances - fridge, DW, and compactor - and am pleased with all three - but there have been numerous posts about problems with KA ovens, ranges, etc. It may only be electric ovens that have the problems but I would do more research and consider other brands.

Weissman, yes, I have read about the recalls of Amana electric stoves; but we are buying a gas range and I think there isn't that same problem with that type ~

Dodge, the model is #UN55B8000 ~ do you know if that is the *newer* one you were talking about? ~ I did goggle the model # and read approximately a billion reviews etc. but i couldn't figure out if the # is the newest one or not !

It is the newer one and the "top of the food chain in that line" It is backlit with LED or (side lit as they call it)
CNET recommends you step to the next model down as the only difference is the 240HZ refresh rate and they could not dicern any difference between that and the 120HZ model.
Budget not a problem, probably ok as it is "The Latest & The Greatest" (he murmurs don't want anymore miele fights)

and the installation ~ wow! ~ hang 55" $300 ~ install electrical outlet $190 ~ install & setup sound bar $80 for a grand total of $570 ~ does that seem reasonable?

and no, we don't feel we could possibly do it on our own ~

reviews.cnet.com is a good place to check out electronics reviews - so is www.avsforum.com but often way too much info there.

Your extras are way too much - particularly the monster cable - you absolutely do not need monster cable - inexpensive cables from amazon will work fine.

What is the samsung sound bar? It sounds like some kind of extra speakers but quite frankly you'd be better off spending the money on a surround sound setup - the TV should already have built-in speakers which you can use for the time being. If I get a chance I'll see if I can find info on the Samsung sound bar.

Do you really need another electrical outlet? Don't you already have one nearby.

I gather you want the TV mounted on the wall. That will cost you for the installation but another option is to get a TV stand and just set the TV on that - might be a bit cheaper depending on what kind of stand you get.

Okay, I looked up the Samsung soundbar. It's a "virtual" surround system - it's 2.1 - meaning 2 speakers plus a wireless subwoofer to simulate real surround sound. There's a bar with the 2 speakers mounted on the wall under the TV plus a wireless subwoofer that you can place anywhere. Real surround sound systems are 5.1 or 7.1 and require an amplifier in addition to the speakers. The soundbar is lower profile than a full surround sound system but I'm guessing the sound won't be that good - you should really read the reviews before deciding to get it. With such a high end TV, I think you'd be better off getting a better sound system for it. You'll probably also want to get a good Blu-Ray disc player as well.

I recently got an Oppo BDP-83 that a friend recommended and it's phenomenal - it was pricey at $499 but they just came out with a lower end model BDP-80 for $289.

Yes you could use that outlet - I would get a surge protector - but since you're planning to wall mount, they may be recommending a new outlet behind the TV to avoid having a power cord hanging down to the floor - it's a matter of aesthetics - many people hate the jumble of wires you get when you start installing A/V equipment. That's probably also why he's suggesting the sound bar mounted on the wall below the TV - to give you a clean wireless look. It's a tradeoff between performance and aesthetics.

It looks like you were in good hands with weissman anyway. I would have told you about the same. I would NOT go with the Samsung Sound bar, but instead, (later if necessary-budget) get a regular surround system for it.

OK we look for you in the entertainment forum, whoever typed LEC either mistyped or don't know much about TV's , weissman is correct.
