I've sued a simple, mono cover crop for a number of years now and like it very much for what I want and able to achieve, oats. for my location, the seed is sown (with my Gardenway planter) as close as possible to Sept. 1st in order to get lots of top growth before killing frost but not so early that the crop goes to seed. for me, the oat crop does 3 things primarily. 1) takes up N in the soil from that years veggie crop remaining in the soil and puts it into the tops that will be returned to the soil in the following Spring. 2) mellows the soil very nicely for subsequent cultivation. 3) suppresses Fall weed growth. This year I tried another twist in cover cropping by planting soybeans in May (I think) and grew them until the pods were getting about half full, then, I ran the tops through the shredder and dumped the good stuff back onto the soil and turned it in prior to planting the oats. The beans had plenty of time to nodulate and form an extremely dense canopy that suppressed ALL weed growth. following the beans was the oats, I think that plot is going to be in excellent condition for next year. Never thought of 2 successive cover crops in the same growing season before, it was a lot of work! Maybe thers is a better alternative growing one crop like Hairy Vetch for the entire year. I'm still not too old to learn but old enough to look for ways to get where I want to go and not be so damned tired when I get there to enjoy life :) Happy planting, Michael

Ponder I am curious about what you said The rule of thumb for curlers. If you go around the hair more than 11/2 times it will reverse direction and do it's own thing when you let it out. Do you mean not to turn the curling iron more then 1 and half times?? I think thats what you are saying but I've never had that trouble controling it. If I want to curl your hair under I face the clip one way and if I want to curl it out it faces the other way. I'm not trying to be rude in anyway, I hope you don't take it that way! Just curious. I usually use big hot rollers for body and then let it cool and then finish up with a curling iron to help it go in the direction I want it. Then after that round cools I go to it with my round brush. I find this way last a lot longer then blowing it out with the round brush. Atleast for my hair! I love my ceramic curling iron! It heats up so fast and so even!

Stpindell, Thank you for your post and Ia m glad your problem was solved by your cabinetmaker. I just picked up a coffee table that I had made from a customer to fix this very problem- I had used self closing side mount slides due to the fact that the drawers are so small in height Blumotion wouldn't work. It is being used by an older person and I agree that it is hard to pull the drawer open. The work great the other way. This is the first time this has happened to my in over 35 years and thousands of drawer installs. So, I am going to try and "fix" this my grinding off that catch tab on the slide mechanism to "soften" the pull without risking a total malfunction. If it works I will post how I did it. Otherwise I am going to replace them with regular slides. All on my dime and time. No one should have to fight to get their drawer open. Yes and it is our responsibility as pros to communicate and do a great show and tell with the customer. Note: Although the home owner is the final customer--I did this for a designer here in Scottsdale Arizona-she being a pro has given me time to fix before the home owner sees it and moves in. That is a great designer to plan in her project management risks and small fixes in her timeline.

I would suggest JC Penney, or a local seamstress, too. Restoration Hardware also has a color Spruce in it's Brushed Cotton Twill. I don't know if the Quiet Moments has been on the wall for a long time, but one of the reasons you are having such a problem is that you sorta went about the process backwards. There are probably dozens of paint colors that are fairly similar to Quiet Moments, but you may only find a partial handful of drapery options at an acceptable price point. Heavy or blackout, one or two options So, next time I would find a drapery you like first and then choose the paint color. The other thing that may expand options, but will also cost more is to find something you like even if it is not heavy or blockout and put a block out roller shade on the window. I am doing a very budget sensitive project and we are selecting a very general paint color first, then finding curtains that meet the budget and style options, then selecting the final paint color. For one of the rooms after I found the drapes, the Benjamin Moore Color Preview Deck of thousands of colors resulted in Three that work well with the drapes and are the general color we were shooting for.
