Would u subway tile this shower?
Comments (16)Okay so this is what I have found out. Our floors are chiseled edge honed travertine. I can get travertine for the shower walls in the same color in either: 3 x 6 polished or 12 x 12 honed In the polished, I can get either a chair rail or pencil border in the same color So this means I can do a 3 x 6 polished matching travertine (except for the finish) with a pebble border that is trimmed above and below with a matching polished chair rail/pencil border (like in the photo in the above post). OR I can do the shower walls in the same color and finish travertine but in a 12 x 12 with no matching borders (unless I do the polished border with the honed wall tiles. What say yea now???...See MorePocket door: yea or nay?
Comments (24)I am not sure what you are asking, auzzy.... We are already planning to move the door opening to a different wall to better utilize the floor space in the small bathroom. if we do a regular door, the swing area will be right where one would stand to wash hands at the sink, but the door would not open against the vanity, but against the opposite wall. In using the bathroom door, one would need to step back away from the vanity (further into the room) in order to operate the door. We're thinking that the pocket door would avoid that. In our house, locks are rarely, if ever used. And the teenager daughter spends a lot of time at the mirror in the bathroom. We often open the door to tell her to hurry up or she'll miss the bus, etc. With a swinging door we'd hit her with the door. I guess that's not a totally valid reason to choose a pocket door though. it's more that I am theorizing that it will make the bath's interior space feel bigger not to have the door swing taking up literally half the open floor space... Here's the current layout. Notice how the door and vanity placement mean that the only really useable floor space is directly in front of the toilet, just that tiny spot! Here's what we are planning to do to maximize the floor space. So... the question is whether a pocket door in this case would make the space more useable? (The pocket door would slide into the wall next to the vanity.)...See MoreGlass on bathroom door-yes or no?
Comments (35)I've seen those two way mirror bathrooms on TV-I think I'd give it a shot, I'm not at all modest! I appreciate that others are, however. The door I originally wanted was similar to that carinatex posted-a large panel of frosted glass, but I found a vintage exterior door with four glass panels at the top-the entire thing is quite heavy, so I'm sure sound isn't going to be an issue. That's odd that it's mentioned, because the current door is just hollow core and it's cut shorter than the threshold by about an inch-you can hear EVERYTHING from that door. The bathroom entrance was originally facing to the hall way-which would have give you view of the toilet & tub, but in the 70's the PO's added an addtion to the house, made the 3rd bedroom a sort of pass-through room (we call it our library because we've lined it with bookshelves) and the door now enters into that room. With the change, it allowed the sink to be visible from the door now, so it's more private. We don't get many guests-and those that do come over are family and friends who I don't think would be too uncomfortable. I can always mention the ensuite if someone really wanted more privacy. I don't mind if someone goes in to the master-I only let people I know very well into the most private parts of our home....See MoreShower tray comparison: Onyx Collections vs Porcelanosa Krion
Comments (9)Here is my search for cast iron. the Bellwether has a more modern look than the standard fare. https://www.us.kohler.com/us/browse/bathroom-showering-shower-bases/_/N-2d8rZ1z13vg7?Nr=AND%28product.language%3AEnglish%2CP_market%3AKPNASite%29 I have the 5x3' salient center drain pan and I love it. Comes in a lot of colors. I see that the other 5' lengths don't come as wide which is a shame, cause the 36" width is nice....See MoreUser
