Best 'wet look' shadow for lids of a certain age?.?...

I love the shimmery "wet" look of certain eyeshadows, but don't want anything that will make my lids look crepey.

I've found Mac has some decent cream shadows, but i'd like to find something more sheer.

Any suggestions? Has anyone tried the Rimmel shine shadows?

I find a mat cream shadow more flattering for most age groups; Guerlain has little pots of cream shadow that I love; they are pricey though and I'm certain they can be found in cheaper makes. Applied with a small flat brush, they are easy to work with and seem to not accentuate the effects of aging.....

I love a soft shimmery look too, especially when I'm going out for the evening. I have trouble finding creme shadows that don't end up in the creases of my eyelids though. I'm wondering if there is something that can be applied to the lids before a creme shadow that will stop the creasing? The foundation trick doesn't seem to work for me on anything other than powder shadows.

(Btw.. I need help from my fellow forumers. I've been a member for a while now, but didn't subcribe at first when the forum became pay-only. I can't remember if there is a way to go in and edit posts once they're posted? Thanks in advance for any advice given!)

That is a gross over-simplification of the "lid on/lid off" concept. If my "condo" is the "ideal" environment for worms 364 day of the year, but through some "act of nature" - say lightening strikes a transformer on a power pole and the power goes off for 12 hours - and my bin(s) are stressed and the worms decide they can't live in the "ideal" condo and decide to leave, they all die. Period. It has nothing to do with my :"skills" as a wormer or my ability to "provide" for them. EXCEPT that with a lid, whatever stressor is applied - be it my ineptitude or something completely out of my control - a lid allows me the time to address the problem and avoid catastrophe. In my opinion, THAT perspective is the more "considerate" of the worms. I live in an environment that is closer to 'the edge' than most. One must always have 'back up plans', and contingency plans. Rarely do "things" remain "ideal" for long. I appreciate that when one lives in a more benign environment, it's easy to not concern oneself with contingencies for the surprises that "nature" might bring. 1) All of us don't live in that environment, and 2) the more "skilled" wormer considers catastrophic possibilities and is prepared for them. Maybe when I become the perfect wormer I can have worm bins without lids. I find it interesting that when I started this endeavor, I didn't have lids on my bins, and all the "experts" advised that I use them, "just in case". Paul

Thank you, flyleft. Actually, I've made several calendars already, but I give them away as gifts, never sold any. The orchids and the grand tetons pictures were in one of them, as I recall. Another was nothing but sunrises. For psychological health even more than exercise, I would get up very early and go for a walk each morning before I went to work. I lived up on a hill at that time and would get to enjoy some of the most fabulous sun rises....especially appreciated as they are so fleeting. Another thing I do is I use one of my photos for my holiday cards each year and write a haiku to go with them. This was one of my favorites from several years back... I feel like this color always goes one of three ways for me. Either it’s very grey or it pulls green and then sometimes just a touch of blue comes out. We are considering this color on a colonial style home.

I think for "mature" skin matte is usually more flattering. The shine also highlights imperfections and looks better on youthful skin. This was my observation doing facials/makeup in the past.

Well shoot! mitchdesj, I could sit and preview my posts all day long, and then as soon as I post it I find a typo I missed. Why is it cute when someone else typos, but it's so annoying when I do it? LOL!

ocbird- My daughter has used the Rimmel shine shadows and they look very pretty on her. I haven't tried them myself yet. They do have some very pretty colors. :)

Sass, I think we all get used to the typos on thathomesite; over time, you hardly notice them....
At the cooking forum, the most memorable one was in the title of a thread, someone posted: puppy seeds instead of poppy seeds;
everyone still remembers that one.

Keeping eye shadow where you put it and avoiding creases--my daughter swears by Bobby Brown's base for eye make up. Says everyone asks how she keeps it from making lines or disappearing. I have used Eye Fix from Elizabeth Arden -- I like her Lip Fix too.
