Minerals From the Dead Sea

My friend told me about very good results to her skin after she used More Minerals face moisturizing day cream.

I donÂt see the influences she talked about.

What do you think? Maybe I have to wait some more time?

Do you believe in the good influences of the minerals from the Dead Sea in Israel?

I would like to hear reactions.

I only see a difference in my skin after I've had a deep cleaning and exfoliating, to remove the dead skin that accumulates; then it's clearer looking.

Otherwise, a good moisturizer will hydrate the skin but there's no noticeable difference. I don't believe in any better influence from the dead sea minerals; I used to use Ahava body cream, they also use dead sea minerals, it was good but no better than other body creams.

I occasionally use a moisturizer made by Ahava, which is supposed to contain minerals from the Dead Sea. I like it. Not greasy, it does seem to work. No miracles, though. Actually I would like to find more Ahava products where I live, but the moisturizer was all I could find at TJMaxx. One of the ladies I work with did rant and rave about them when she returned from a trip to the Holy Land. Hope to find the entire line one day soon, 'cause I'd really like to try them. Having tried the moisturizer only,I don't think I can give a good personal review of the products.

"If the material you compost is very diverse" Meaning from many different regions, or meaning compost made from different species of plants? Of course, it is a forgone conclusion that most any bought compost is made from plant material that was grown on soils that have less than optimum percent OM. Most compost and manure ultimately goes back to a grass crop, and hayfields tend to be poorly managed. So you are continuing with your consistent position that mineral deficiency can be corrected by growing and composting plant matter grown on soil with that same deficiency. As a general concept, this cannot be so. In a few cases there is some evidence that over long periods of time certain "accumulator" plants, very deep-rooted weeds, can partially change a surface deficiency. For example, dandelion and burdock grow where calcium is quite low in the top foot of soil. Due to their deep-rooted and perennial habit, they probably must bring up into their tissues at least tiny amounts of Ca that has leached into the denser subsoil or hardpan below. So those types of plants and to some extent probably shrubs and trees as well recover a small part of what is lost to leaching and then release it slowly through decay. Assuredly that is why a freshly converted piece of heavily grown-over land produces well for a few years. This concept does not apply to a heavily-cropped low-level monoculture like a typical hayfield or grain field.

I use it along with composts and alfalfa to create a healthier microbial environment. There's an additional benefit, that it provides more organic material for decomposition and soil aggregates. It goes for about 15 bucks a kg (2.2 lbs) which is not prohibitively expensive. I also add minerals from the Dead Sea. It always looks weird when I bring back soil, but I really believe it makes a difference because of depletion issues where I live. Mineral Make-Up. OUCH!

Well an "itch" I could deal with, this BURNED like my face was on fire. I had to wash it off. I had previously tried mineral make-up at the counter of one of the BE stores and it did sort of itch a bit and 'felt funny' all the way home. Even with the cheap stuff I bought and tried back in May I was acutely aware of something being on my face, sort of 'itchy'. Even if I use the mineral make-up without scrubbing my face first I am thinking that this stuff ain't too safe for the eyes or lungs should any find their way there. I've already decided to toss it and go back to using pancake make-up as a foundation. Just a 'heads-up' to anyone who may be concerned with contact lenses.

funnily enough, I was at Winner's today ( canadian equivalent of TJMax) and they had all sorts of Ahava products; I picked up the body scrub and lotion also, half price. There is a store in west palm beach at City Place that sells Ahava products; but if the products are at the discounters, maybe the distribution was dropped.

mitchdesj, I hope you will tell us what you think of them. As I said, the person who tried them had nothing but praise for the products.
I also wonder if there are some legal issues as I recently read something about a litigation between Ahava in Israel and the US importer/distributors. Perhaps, they ARE dropping their distribution because of this?

The Ahava products are fine; no better no worse than other quality products, I did the scrub and moisturizer combo a few times and was happy with the results. The fact that there are dead sea salts in them showed no differently than other scrubs and moisturizers I've used in the past that were based on other ingredients.

I think any beauty routine done diligently with average products will yield good results, I never expect a miracle from a certain ingredient.

The Adovia products are good; and better priced than other quality products, I used the Dead Sea mud a few times and the results were great every time. I actually felt great and my skin was supple. Definitely worth a look at www.deadseaproductsreview.net
