rain shower head height?
Comments (3)The water won't get cold before it hits you (personal experience), the extra distance isn't enough added travel time for evaporation to cool the water. I never liked low (normal-height) shower heads and had the same concern as your husband. Our Kohler rainheads (Forte) have a rough-in height of 72-78" 'typical' above the shower floor. I installed them 4" above the high end, or about 82" and they are wonderful. My wife likes them as well, but it's the rainhead she likes, I don't think the height matters to her. I also took the flow-control device out (O-ring behind the inlet filter screen) which is an added plus for the feel of the rainshower. As the judge used to say, "Hang 'em high!"...See MoreCeiling mounted rain head vs standard wall mounted shower head?
Comments (1)There was an enlightening discussion on this a while back so you should try doing a search. In general the gist of the comments was that a rain shower head experience is usually gentle and those with thick hair have difficulty rinsing shampoo and other hair products. Many, however, like the rain shower for the gentleness. In one shower that will be used by grubby children coming in from playing outside we have installed both a rain shower and a handshower in hopes that they will be enticed into getting cleaned up before they wander through the house. This will also probably be the dog shower. We haven't had a chance to use it yet as we are still waiting for our c.o. HTH....See MoreHelp! Rain Shower Head vs. Standard Head
Comments (4)Thanks Patricia. I do have both - I have the slider bar with the adjustable hand held thing and then the Rain CAn thing. I NEVER shower - always bathe - and this is for my husband not really me so I want him to enjoy it - do you think using the rain shower is ok and then if you need more force or a massage, etc. you can use the handheld thing? would you recommend it this way? I cannot see my husband taking the time to remove the adjustable thing and use it. So I am relying on the shower head for him getting clean, etc. WIll the rain shower do a good job of getting him clean in a jiffy?...See MoreNeed advice on installing overhead rain shower head
Comments (2)Agree with what Mizlizzie wrote. I try to keep the bottom of the rainhead a minimum of 7' above the tiled floor. You can mix drop arms. Most are universal 1/2" thread. Generic finishes like Chrome are pretty much universal, you can mix and match from most any manufacturer. If you have a designer-type finish then sure, it makes sense to stay with within one manufacturer's product line....See Morecat_mom
