Bare Minerals question

When you indicate it takes longer to apply this versus traditional foundation and makeup--why and how much longer? Will a purchase of Bare Minerals last as long as say a purchase of another liquid foundation product so that cost is comparable for use?

I don't think it takes longer to apply. You are putting it on a brush and brushing it on your face - it's fast. It comes in different sizes. I think it's comparable in volume/use to a liquid.

It doesn't take longer for me. It's fast and super easy. I get my makeup on in only a couple of minutes, if even that. For me, Bare Minerals does seem to last about as long as liquid foundation -- maybe even a little bit longer. I just love it!

the reason that you are feeling a pricking itching sensation on your face is not because of the minerals moving around on your face but because of the naturals sunscreen, titanium oxide. some people notice that pricking sensation when they are in the heat or sweating, it will go away after a short time. i experienced this same thing for a short time but i cannot tell you the last time that i felt that and i live where the temperature is commonly over 100 degrees and it is constantly humid. i have been using the makeup for awhile now and could never switch to anything else. i have even tried the avon mineral makeup and it is very thick and cakes easliy. bare minerals is one of the only true mineral makeups and has been around the longest.

Ookay, tomorrow's the day! I'm going in the A.M. and I'm really pretty excited (I'm really serious, all kidding aside). I hope I'm not expecting miracles, I know I'm too old to believe in a miracle makeup, but oh what the heck. I'm going to a wedding next month in Sweden and I'd love to look at least half as good as those Swedish beauties! Ken just went to the wine store today, so I won't be needing to make a visit anytime soon, but I'll be sure to report in when I do, LOL.

Expensive! I want to look good & not go Broke! I switched to, "Elegant Minerals." I was ecstatic to find mineral makeup. I can't say enough. But, "Bare Escentuals" is really expensive. They always have the commercials running, so you know they add that into the cost of the product. Ouch!! I wanted to look good and not go broke doing it! I found, "Elegant Minerals" using the yahoo search engine. They put sifters on all of their jars and that makes it easier to control the powder. I've gotten a mineral makeup through the mail and the makeup ends all over the place when you open the jar. Elegant Minerals put sifter seals their foundation jars. This keeps the powder from getting into the lid during shipping. They've always answered my questions really fast. And all the jars are factory sealed too. I use #1 foundation also and found the Warmth was WAY too dark for me. I used it as a bronzer when I had a tan for a few days. I still haven't figured out what to do with the Bisque. I bought it, thinking it was a concealer. But the foundation covers just as well, I think. I have to experiment more with that. And I do use a different brush for each powder. The only time I mix is when I use the blush. I just got the blush, and discovered that if I dip my brush in the Mineral Veil and then in the blush, it keeps the blush from going on too dark. The blush is very concentrated and you just need a tiny bit. Has anybody tried the Clear Radiance? Is it too shiny?

It actually takes less time for me to apply this than it did a liquid foundation. I would say I get a few more uses from a standard sized Bare Minerals than I would out of my normal bottle of foundation.

I find applying Bare Minerals to be faster than a liquid or cream, because the blending is easier (for me anyway). You don't have to worry so much about blending the area from your face to your neck, there's not really a definite "line" where the makeup on your face ends and your natural skin on your neck starts. I also feel that it lasts the same length of time as a bottle or tube of liquid or cream.

Sorry bluelou, I don't really know about the prices. I bought it from the Sephora store because I wanted to see it and try it in person before I bought it, and then I went back to the store also for my second jar because I decided to change colors - I went one shade darker and I'm really happy with the change. It is $25 at Sephora.

P.S. Bluelou - check out the craft forum, I saw your poem and asked my buddies on the cooking forum for some ideas.

I agree with Terriks, that's where I get mine. I signed up for their email. I wait for the 20% off, it's at least once a month....with free shipping, it's great.

I ordered the "fairly light" and find it's a bit too light and too yellow for me, so I'm going to go to Sephora and try another in person. If you can go and try it first, I recommend that.

Try mineralbasics.com I don't know how to post a link. I've been using their makeup for about a year. They have lots of colors and it's much cheaper.
