Bare Minerals question

When you indicate it takes longer to apply this versus traditional foundation and makeup--why and how much longer? Will a purchase of Bare Minerals last as long as say a purchase of another liquid foundation product so that cost is comparable for use?

I don't think it takes longer to apply. You are putting it on a brush and brushing it on your face - it's fast. It comes in different sizes. I think it's comparable in volume/use to a liquid.

It doesn't take longer for me. It's fast and super easy. I get my makeup on in only a couple of minutes, if even that. For me, Bare Minerals does seem to last about as long as liquid foundation -- maybe even a little bit longer. I just love it!

I have lots of friends who look wonderful in Bare Minerals. It seems to give them a radiant healty glow. I, on the other hand don't like it. I gave mine to a neighbor and she was happy to get it. On me, pores looked huge and wrinkles and lines were exaggerated. I didn't like the coverage and my face burned. Of course, the colors didn't work for me either. Bare Minerals seems a bit overpriced to me, also. I tried many mineral foundation samples from the internet and most didn't do much for me but were better than BM. I did find a great one though. I love the new Merle Norman mineral makeup. It looks good on me. FINALLY!!! We're all definately not the same, and different products seem to work for different people.

Traveling with Bare Minerals

Jars of minerals have "exploded" in my handbag, cosmetic bag AND suitcase--what a mess that was! But love the makeup and it IS great for traveling because there are no restrictions since it's not liquid, paste or gel. I just bought a case specifically for mineral makeup to use for everyday and for travel. Love it because my jars are always packed now and ready to go. Just pack my brush roll (I put wands, tubes & tweezers in empty pockets in the brush roll). They have lots of travel hints on the case's website. I agree with Debi except I removed the sifter lids and taped up all but one hole (with a bit blue painters tape) permanently. If some minerals are needed up into the sifter, turning the jar upside down shaking it does the trick. Using it right out of the sifter top instead of the lid helps because I was making messes all the time when I transferred the minerals to the lid and back for swirling and tapping. Donner's suggestion of inserting a cotton ball between the sifter and lid is also a good one but I'd rather just put a dot of blue tape on the one hole and not waste anything on the cotton ball. Now when I buy new colors I just poke one hole in the seal and leave it in place. Hope this helps. Here is a link that might be useful: The Mineral Case

One thing that bare escentuals does not do is brand bash. The makeup does not work for everyone. Hear it. Listen to it. And shut up. we are natural make up made of crushed minerals. Our original foundation is made from 3 ingredients. if your makeup isn't staying use the primer. That's what it was made for..if your getting oil during the day you touch up with the mineral veil..it absorbs oil..maybe some of you should sit down with a beauty ambassador...we go to seminars to become fully educated with our products..I don't use all of our skincare because it doesn't work for me...I HATE seeinh other representatives or women brand bashing...okay the makeup may not work for you but it works for million of women...we are the number one seller on qvc and every four seconds a jar of foundation is being sold! Btw a jar of foundation is supposed to last 8 to ten months..if your going through it faster your not doing the makeup right...and some people are allergic to goat and pony hair that our brushes are made of...my manager still uses her mac brushes from when she worked there..its different for everyone..our product is guaranteed for 30 days and if you react you can return it..I've only seen ONE true reaction and that was because she forgot she was allergic to one of the minerals...there is no talc or dyes so that is false that was stated above...lastly the skin rever upper is not natural...I think I said all I wanted to ha bareminerals has helped me a lot and helps millions of women feel beautiful...if it doesn't work for you I'm sorry you miss out on an awesome product! Maybe try eyeshadows ;)

Wow, I have read and read and read the bare mineral thread and have searched and searched google trying to find out this same information. There were so many posts on the bare mineral subject, I felt like an outsider looking in as everybody seemed to be able to figure this out but me. It actually takes less time for me to apply this than it did a liquid foundation. I would say I get a few more uses from a standard sized Bare Minerals than I would out of my normal bottle of foundation.

I find applying Bare Minerals to be faster than a liquid or cream, because the blending is easier (for me anyway). You don't have to worry so much about blending the area from your face to your neck, there's not really a definite "line" where the makeup on your face ends and your natural skin on your neck starts. I also feel that it lasts the same length of time as a bottle or tube of liquid or cream.

Sorry bluelou, I don't really know about the prices. I bought it from the Sephora store because I wanted to see it and try it in person before I bought it, and then I went back to the store also for my second jar because I decided to change colors - I went one shade darker and I'm really happy with the change. It is $25 at Sephora.

P.S. Bluelou - check out the craft forum, I saw your poem and asked my buddies on the cooking forum for some ideas.

I ordered the "fairly light" and find it's a bit too light and too yellow for me, so I'm going to go to Sephora and try another in person. If you can go and try it first, I recommend that.

Try mineralbasics.com I don't know how to post a link. I've been using their makeup for about a year. They have lots of colors and it's much cheaper.
