It looks like Tints of Nature hair color (home box color) might be a little better chemically than Wella. The same company also has a professional salon version called Organic Colour Systems. Henna can be another option, I think some Hennas use Indigo, so they can make more colors than just reds, like browns, and possibly black. I've read that with some of the more chemical free shampoos, your hair can go through sort of a "detox" phase for a month or less where you can experience greasy hair, dry hair, dandruff, etc. before it gets back to feeling normal. Hard water can also affect the shampoos, but there are things you can add that can be helpful with this. Just adding my ten cents worth, having read everybody's different experiences. I was seeing pink streaks of blood on the toilet paper after urinating, and at first thought it was a urinary tract infection. Antibiotics for that didn't make any difference. Then I tried to determine if it was really urinary, or perhaps vaginal instead. It seemed like it was both which seemed crazy and impossible and scared me half to death. And it was only apparent when I wiped after urinating. It wasn't like I was bleeding like with a period or anything like that. Long story short is doc explained that the urethra and the vagina share a wall, and that as I'm nearly 65 and about 13 years past menopause, it was probably that shared wall that was atrophying (drying out) and causing the light bleeding. Which made sense as my husband had major surgery about a year ago and as he's 78 years old, we just haven't gone back to regular sex which had probably been keeping my vagina well lubricated. Anyway, doc prescribed a pea sized amount of Estrace externally three times a week. I tried that for four weeks and it made no difference at all. I did some research and as I trust the Mayo Clinic, I went with their recommended dosage of 2 grams daily, some just inside the vagina with my finger, the rest externally, for one to two weeks. Halfway through the second week the bleeding had completely gone away. Mayo then says half that dosage for the next one to two weeks, which I'm trying now, and then 1 gram three times a week for three out of every four weeks as a maintenance dose. I'm going to try the pea sized amount three times a week instead and see if symptoms come back - hopefully they won't. I want to use the minimum amount possible, yet keep the problem under control. Only side effect I noticed was when I went to the 2 grams daily, my nipples were very sensitive but that has improved.

Thank you for the lesson on soap and water, cynic. I assure you I do bathe regularly with both and still like to use deodorant. The purpose of my post was to give an alternative to the many people who think that anti-perspirants are unhealthy. I get that most people aren't interested but there are some who are. Clogging up one of the body's major detoxification points in order to smell powder fresh all day is certainly a popular choice but there are alternatives out there. This combination is working beautifully for me. I have absolutely no smell at all since I put it on this morning, with no rash or irritation. And while I agree that sometimes people can't smell themselves, I definitely can because that's how I knew that other ones I previously tried over the last few weeks didn't work, lol. Between that, and brutally honest friends, I am assured that what I've found works for me. In the end, it's up to everyone to make their own decisions. I try not to use anything on my body that I couldn't eat if I wanted to because that's what I feel is the healthiest way to live. And yes, I am a worrywort. Have you seen the recent cancer statistics? Something like 1 in 3 will be diagnosed in their lifetime, and it's rising all the time. I'm doing everything I can to avoid it. The body has an amazing ability to detoxify and heal if only we let it and not clog it up with chemicals and preservatives and parabens and toxins and all the other crap in conventional beauty products.

@sandy1616 I'm not trying to dispute your claims, but the pet food disaster I believe was sometime in 2007. I remember being really mad about it, too... even though we didn't have a dog. It just crushed me... knowing all those poor animals, defenseless... because some worthless, classless, piece of s@!t out there, was more concerned about profits... then others. It's worth noting though.. P&G wasn't to blame. The *recall* affected over 150 different brands of Pet Food. P&G did *sell* off the Iams & Eukanuba pet food brands, sometime in 2014... But, I think they are still being manufactured in the same facility. I *did* a lot of research into this, because I was extremely concerned... when I heard the news about this. "Mars" pet food... is the company who makes, Pedigree. Not that there's anything wrong, with that brand, per say... It's just, if I was a pet-owner, I wouldn't feed my dog that brand. I'd probably stick with Blue Buffalo or Iams. That's what I'd feel more comfortable with... There was even a time before P&G took over Iam's in '99. Apparently they substituted some ingredients for slightly more corn-meal, and the sudden change, upset a lot of pets stomachs. Not that Corn-Meal... is the best ingredient, but... Iam's isn't a bad brand. It's definitely one of the higher tiers, until it's changed...
