Entry Exterior Suggestions.... Anyone have brick/shingle siding?

We are looking at our entry and are just playing with the idea of changing it to shingle/siding on the gable and maybe beams below? I am also including our original inspiration pics which were all brick homes. We have shingle/siding on the dormers and on a large single dormer in the back...

Anyone have pics of a shingle siding and brick home? Thoughts?

Your house looks like it is going to be beautiful! It reminds me of a house near me that has stucco and stone. Have you thought about that look? Or brick with stucco on the dormers? Just a suggestion. Also do a search for some of the homes on this site that have examples of the Nichia(?)siding. You might get some ideas from those posts too.

I did find one picture of a stone and shingle sided home. Different style of home, but at least you can see the shingle siding and brick mix. Once you click on the link, click on the pic then scroll through the other photos and you will see a close up example of the front exterior.

Thanks for the kind words. My heart is typically drawn to one allover exterior, but am now fearing a brick entry would be overkill. Curious as to what a shingle/siding entry might look like as we are doing shingle siding on the dormers.

I tried to repost with a different title but it may have gotten deleted. I have always love the cottage cedar shake look but was fearful of using in oklahoma. No one does it here unless you are in a historical district(like soonermagic) I wasn't crazy about doing a brick home with rock entry which everyone does here. I just couldn't fit the rock in with what I had in my mind. I guess I am still trying to find a cottage/beach house/hampton vibe in there somewhere....

Yeah!! I got some replies! I was afraid I phrased it in a way that frightened people off. I really do like the idea of brickwork done in an interesting way. The patterns are something I need to research more to get some more pics. HI mmoodyrn! I am apoligize for knocking folks that have the stonework, I just find my eyes really loving the allover single exterior. Maybe that is why I am so loving the pic sent by eventhecatisaboy. Trying to translate what that house has going on into my home. That house is interesting for another reason because I had just posted about bricks being laid slightly uneven in places - mimicking stacked stone which this house does have kind of, though it is more of a spaced out pattern. I have found the exterior to be the most difficult part for some reason.

Hi there, We haven't done it yet, but I still want to. I actually found a neighborhood near here (tipped off by my neighbor who's been thinking of doing this for ten years but has yet to pull the trigger) where there are tons and tons of houses like ours, most painted a single color. They look great. And it's in a very fancy area, which I think explains the greater prevalence of doing this than my specific neighborhood, which is nice but not ritzy (since painting the brick adds a lot of $$). I took pictures of some of these houses, which I'm happy to post. I think it's important though to hire a really really good painter, and to shell out the extra $ for good paint. I've seen some crappy jobs and it's not worth it.
