Those with 27' deep 'Pro Style' Ranges, how deep are your cabs?

Wondering hpw deep your base cabinets around your range are, and how deep the countertops are.

Does the bullnose of the range protrude past your countertops?

I've got a Bluestar 36" 6 burner range.
The range is 27" deep, including the oven door but not the handle, and the cabs are the standard 24".
The range needs to extend beyond the cabinets so that when you open the oven door, the body of the range extends beyond the front face of the cabs.
At least that's what I've been told.

They are built to deliberately extend beyond the depth of standard kitchen cabinets as a fire safety measure.

Effluent expands as it rises, so the 27-inch hood will have a better chance of capturing it. Larger hoods also allow some increase in their mounting height for taller cooks. (But keep in mind that to look over the range one has to bend, thereby reducing one's distance from the floor.) Position and type of hood lighting is also relevant, as a hot lamp just above one's head can be annoying. Larger hoods require more air flow in proportion to their aperture area (or at least in proportion to the area where the baffles are, depending on interior design details. And the make-up air has to support this flow. A roof fan or attic in-line fan will reduce local noise, and if space and resources permit, an in-line sound reducer/muffler/silencer will also help. One can converse in my kitchen next to my Wolf Pro Island hood with its 1500 cfm - rated roof fan at full power. I do have a Fantech silencer and have much of the ducting wrapped with vibration dampening sheets. Ultimately it is a trade in cost and appearance versus effectiveness and noise that each person has to make accounting for any limiting architectural factors. kas

sbpoll- yes ours is all gas. We wanted the gas-roasting ability, so we went with the AG and we then put in a wall convection oven which is of course electric. I found the pro harmony to suit our every need. The oven seems bigger than any other comparable range, while being 24" deep was just a great bonus! In the showroom it makes the rest look so bulky and ridiculous. It's a great built-in look...I guess I'm preaching to the choir...:)but I am happy with it even without self-clean!

The chimney type hoods are often designed for form-over-function installations and don't have as many deeper options. Also, most of the ranges that really call for that kind of depth are the professional style ones where people often install a pro style hood to complement them. So that's the style most of the 27" deep hoods are available in. That said, some of the high end/custom hood manufacturers should be able to set you up with what you're looking for. One example is Modern-Aire. Their PS-20 pyramid hood shows as being available in 27" depth. Hood entry apertures should overlap the cooking zone by the size of the pans on the hobs plus the plume expansion, which might be approximated by a ten-degree to vertical angle. With a 42 x 27 hood, it should be large enough to mount as high as 36 inches. Function first! I should add that usually the counter overhang is not the visual issue for most who worry about it here, it is the amount of extension past the cabinets that bound it. Since upper cabinets are typically 12 or 15 inches, a 27 may not be significantly more obtrusive than a 24. Hood shape may affect this. If you must have 24, then Wolf has a Pro Wall Hood that is 42 x 24. (Page 151 of the 2023 Wolf Design Guide.)

My cabinets are 26" deep and the counter is 27.5" deep. But I didn't do that for the range. Since I couldn't fit an island into my space I decided to make the perimeter deeper. I also have 15" uppers which I really like.

My cabinets are 24" deep.
With a 3/4" overhang, my counters are almost 25" deep.
The front edge of the top of my Wolf DF projects 28" from the wall.
Standing a bit "proud" of the cabinets
is a good look for a pro-style range, in my opinion.
The range still looks very much part of and integrated into the run of cabinets.

Thanks for the responses. Never knew there were so many details involved in this process.

I feel like I'll never look at another kitchen the same again...will always be taking in the details!

My cabinets are 25" deep and I have a decorative filler strip that is another 3/4" or so next to the range. It lines up exactly with the end of the range box. The doors and the range's front "bullnose" are proud of the counter (as they should be).
