I need something to help clear up my acne

I have had moderate acne for about 3 years now, and I've tried a bunch of different cleansers. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good cleansers that actually work, and if they can tell me when to use them. Acutane and Retin-A do not work on my face; my skin is really sensitive. Thank you so much!

I'm assuming you've seen a dermatologist? I did not have much luck with the program my derm put me on. My son tried Proactive and it didn't do a thing so I tried his left overs and it worked! Within two days I noticed a difference. The daily oil control really dried out my skin so I dropped that. Good luck.

Years ago, when my son was a teenager, and had acne, and really sensitive skin, we tried a Buf-Puf facial scubber thingy and Lever 2000 soap. Over the course of the next couple of weeks it cleared his face up, and I still use it today. All the dermatologist wanted to do for him was put these chemicals on already irritated and very sensitive skin ( and I do mean sensitive. He once got 2nd degree chemical burns from BenGay !) I don't mean to be endorsing any products, just telling what worked for us. Same thing for a friend of mine, 36 yrs old, and had bad acne for years. Now shes so clear its unbelievable. Its worth a try. Just remember, when working to clear up acne, in my experience, it always looks worse before it gets better.

mrdoitall - I haven't planted yet, but I was hoping to get started this week. My seedling are doing pretty well though. I still have about 850 I haven't killed yet. I'll need to take some cuttings if I'm going to end up with 1000. I was planning to make hills of dirt, compost, pulled weeds, grass clippings, straw, etc. But I won't know for sure how things will go until I actually try it. I thought I had a good supply of dirt right next to my new space, but it turned out to be hard as a rock. So I'm considering my other options. I don't have a working camera setup, so pictures will have to wait. I have more urgent things like fencing, planting, slug barriers and trellising, to deal with first. And I kinda got distracted watching the oil spill. What a mess. loribee - I'm going to do something similar, except I'm planning to make a hill for each plant, instead of covering the entire garden. And I won't be using any framing, since I don't think it's necessary in my case. I may cut down the number of plants, once I see how things are going. I figure I'll get to a certain point, and just call it done. kay-jay - I agree too. 1000 is a number I came up with as the absolute maximum for this year. I'm using it as a goal, and so I have to figure out how to do things on a larger scale. I may only get halfway this year. But next year I'll have worked out enough of the problems, and it should get easier.

.. I wouldn't put a bin next the house. Make it at least 4 feet away. I'm betting you won't like the bugs. Bugs are good except in and around the house. Keep bins at least 4 ft from the house and not too far from water. Especially if you have to lug the water. Drainage is a non issue as long as you don't over water. Convenience for unloading is always good because you don't want to alter the way you do things to compost. If it becomes a chore, you're less likely to continue. We have a pair of cookie jars in the kitchen for scraps. Maybe a gallon or just under I figure. Fill one in a week. Empty once a week, wash it out, let air for a week. to sense ..

Charliedawg! Alright, some fun stuff! I agree with your first thoughts that it needs a little something. I think corbels would be a good addition. I also really like pendent lights, they won't block your view. Our's don't. I agree that raised panel in that spot is likely a waste. I also agree that the kitchen won't really come to "life" until you add all your personal stuff. Here's a shot of our kitchen which includes corbels and pendents. Just like our properties, our kitchens are similar. Glad things are back on track. You can't stop writing after you move in. We want to hear all about life in the house. I would start with hardscaping to create a little mystery and anticipation in that flat plain. For example, you don't need to know much about masonry to lay out and construct a curvaceous and intriguing path of dry-laid brick or flagstone with perhaps an arbor to mark an entrance, a berm or speciman boulders to add some contour. Once you have the backbone in, other ideas begin to suggest themselves - such as a serpentine border of low groundcover along the path, a vine climbing up the arbor, plants with complementary foliage paired with the rocks, and shrubs or grasses to coyly disguise your path's progress (where does it go next? let's follow it and see!)

maymo, yes, I've seen a dermatologist, and I didn't have much luck with their programs either. I tried proactive, and it didn't do a thing for my face either. I religiously used it for about 3 months. Thank you for your input; I really appreciate it!

hayden2239, I'm going to try the Lever 2000 soap and the Buf-Puf facial scrubber! Thank you so much for your advice!

Try a cleanser made to balance your skins Ph,like Eb5 or Clarins.They have worked for me.

i've used proactive but my skin started becoming sensitive so i tried Philosophy products and have been very very happy with them. after a few weeks i was able to stop using the acne stuff and just use their regular stuff. i love how my skin looks and feels now. ~ liz

Try Hibiclens, a anti-microbal wash which you can buy at Walgreens (blue bottle about $10.). I've been using it for about a month now and have much less breaking out and far fewer blackheads. Not a miracle for me, but definately a improvement. Link below shows medical studies that prove it does work. Good luck!

Don't get this in your eyes or mouth. It is a liquid so you have to be careful.

The only thing that ever worked for me was Retin A. Not a solution for everyone but perfect for me.

My 15 year old son developed some t-zone acne this year. Benzoyl peroxide solutions and pads didn't work for him. I tried salicylic acid pads, both from Noxema and Oxy. Those worked great. He uses a pad in the morning and at night and his blackheads (the biggest problem) and his pimples cleared up.

My dermatologist recommended taking 10,000 IUs of vitamin A, daily. This has worked beautifully for me. I no longer get monthly break-outs as long as I am faithfully taking my vitamin A.
