there are a multitude of flat irons available with a narrower space; I have cheap flat irons and one good quality one, the latter works much better.....

I would think that hair spray would hold those curls stiff; print a picture of the hairdo so you can show a hairdresser. I think her legs are giving her extra time on Idol, not her voice.

I think seperate units are the way to go IMO. I have yet to find one that does a great job both ways. For a flat iron GHD is hands down the best one out there. Curling irons I don't use often enough to give an opinion. Enzo makes a nice one. Both of these are investments though that will last you years. I bought both of mine off folica online. Be sure you get coupon codes though. My hair is naturally curly and pretty difficult to straighten and the GHD makes it pin straight all day. I cannot say enough good things about it. I ad a CHI and a Solaria before it, both lasted less than a year. I am on 3 years with this bad boy and it is still ticking.

You have a "220 V" hair dryer? In the USA? Most are 120 V, and get there somewhat ridiculous power ratings by assuming 130 V for the supply. All you need is a 120 V AC switch. Some are downright small. If you use a 24 VAC transformer like a furnace and a relay to control the power it gets a low easier to run the control lines and find a small switch. You are still left with finding flexible cord to get120 V to the drawer though, and a serious problem if anything goes wrong (like a broken switch).
