I don't know about microcurrent, but I have been interested in red light therapy for quite some time. There is quite a bit of research behind it, and you can get treatments at doctor's offices and spas. So when I saw this mask at Ulta I had to have one. I've been using it for a week, and I took some before pictures, so I'll let you know how it works out.

And I don't mind saying I am 55yo. I just want to look and feel my best. I don't do manicure, pedicures or massages. I do not have a clothes, shoes or handbag fetish. I don't even have a product fetish. :D I always have been and always will be a house person. Oh, my goodness - YES. I'm 53 and am still not quite sure how I arrived at this age practically overnight, but it happened and I'm glad to be here. I do sometimes fret over the fact that I feel I've started to look tired, but I also know how to remedy that and it's my own fault for not getting after it. I sometimes think about having something done about the frown lines between my eyes that are starting to become more and more visible, but then I just go get my bangs trimmed and all's right once more in my world. I don't do manicures, pedicures or massages either. (My last massage experience was horrifying - had a brute of a therapist who coldly told me I had "control issues" because I couldn't make myself relax under her beefy hands!) I do like to have a couple of new articles of clothing and shoes with each season, but I am not and will never be a fashionista. Just don't care enough about that sort of thing. But my home? Yes, my home is where I always have invested and focused, and I can't see that changing - no matter how much deeper these lines go.

I thought it sounded like a lot of filler too. I've got a call in to Dr. D's office to clarify a few things. I know nothing about fat transfer, but will do some research. Dr. D did tell me that the area on my face that is starting to slightly jowl is not as a result of saggy skin, but I have excess fat in that area and due to other parts of my face on which gravity is taking its toll, the jowling is taking on more of a prevalent look. I don't know if I should be pleased to know that it's not just saggy skin but a fat face that I have! LOL!

3katz, I get Botox 4 times a year, 1/2 syringe I think, mostly in my forehead, between my eyes (those two vertical lines between my eyes, know what I mean?). It runs about $300 a session because there's a points program you can apply to future costs. Where I go this would cost Ida $600 since she gets Botox twice a year. I don't color my hair. If I did, I'd need a touchup at least every 4-6 weeks. I'd want it done well. How much do I save not having to do that? I just looked at prices on a couple of invoices I saved. With discounts, I paid $875 for Voluma and $495 for Restylane. The Voluma lasts a year or so, fills general low spots and deeper lines. I don't use it to inflate my cheekbones which are fine. Restylane is for my undereye area and will last 15-18 months. It's the difference between a hollow, haggard look and a smooth area that doesn't look "done" at all. So, based on my usage, it costs me maybe $200/month, although I don't get stuff every month. As others have said, we all have things we care a lot about, that others would consider nonessential, even frivolous or shallow. Why shell out money for new bedding? Who's gonna see my bedroom anyway, and why do I care what they think of it? My car is 15 years old and it drives just fine. If I were unable to afford groceries or pay my utilities on time because of my vanity expenses, I would have a problem. I have enough of what I need. I can even give some away. If someone wants to feel better about their appearance (hello, makeup? haircut? laundered clothes?), go forth and do so.
