American Range vs Blue Star..Round 1!
Comments (24)Those video's on Eurostoves are a good view. They sort of put a bit of "science" behind what I have been preaching all along. Not only does the Bluestar have class leading BTU output, but it is also the efficiency. Some people on here like to give gas burners a "blanket" efficiency rating, which is total nonsense. There are at least three things that contribute to Blustars efficiency. 1) Open Burner 2) Star Design 3) Ported on top, not on the side of the burner. I always like to compare it to a home furnace. Very simple question, with a very simple answer; What would put more heat into your home? A 100,000 BTU furnace with an efficiency rating of 60? Or an 80,000 BTU furnace with an efficiency rating of 95? Same goes for burner design, except in this case your cooking vessel is your "home", and where you want to heat to be directed. My only small gripe about the Eurostove video's is that they tend to drive home the fact that the reason the Bluestar burner is superior is that it is an open burner. But I think the star design and ported on top are equally or more important. I had an open burner Viking, and although the flame did not spread out to the outer edge of the vessel as much as it did on the sealed burner, it still spread out much much more than a Bluestar. On the topic of Eurostoves, I'd really like to thank Trevor Lawson. I have never met you or even talked to you, but all of your free help to the people on this forum that did not even buy a stove from you shows your true colours!! I know you truly believe in the product, and if I lived near Eurostoves (or anywhere in the US for that matter :)) I would definitely buy from you....See Moreamerican range performer vs. blue star rcs or rnb
Comments (16)Gotta say I'm more than happy with my 36" RNB. I have been using it for just about a year now and have not had 1 issue. I did break the thermostat for the griddle while installing the hi-back guard and shelf but it was replaced very quickly, my fault. I replaced it too, no need for a service guy w/these machines, I adjusted all my burners too, easy. I also have a 30" Wolf convection and a Wolf steam oven but do use the BS oven for pizza, big hunks of meat and anything I want to use a big sheet pan for. The BS oven is the quietest when using convection mode and I love the ability to turn the fan off w/a switch, the Wolf fan stays on for quite some time after the oven is off and is LOUD. The steam oven fan is also relatively loud, we use that oven the most of any of them. I would absolutely purchase another BS range. I hadn't even heard of them until I was starting my new construction and ended up on this site. I read all the horror stories but with all the stellar reviews I figured I'd take a chance. Got a moss green range and matching pro-line 1200 cfm hood (talk about loud). Initially I was interested in the AR performer, the place I purchase from had Capital, AR and BS all right next to each other (didn't even consider a Wolf). I had looked at an AR at another place by itself but when I saw it next to the BS I didn't even look at it again. I may have been equally happy w/the AR but am very happy with my BS. Really the only thing I was remotely concerned about was the hot door as I have young twins (5 now, 4 when we moved in). When I saw my boy sitting on the floor in front of the range with his back against the door while it was on my worries were over, he was 'warming up'. Heck my Wolf lower panel gets hot enough to be quite unpleasant when it's on which surprised me as no one has ever complained about that. Having the 'known good' Wolf in the same kitchen as the BS oven I can say they've both been brilliant. However it does make the Wolf seem 'not soo special' since the BS is equally 'special'. I do most of my bread baking in the BS just cause I can fit more in there but have used all 3 (steam oven only goes up to 445 deg though), they all work great but the end product is slightly different in each which is kinda cool....See MoreBlueStar Platinum vs. Capital Connoisseurian
Comments (12)I have recently seen the Bluestar Platinum, the American Range performer and the Capital Culinarian and Connoissarian demoed live. I am looking at 48inch ranges with grill. Bluestar - unexpectly liked the interchangeable grill and griddle. They are solid and provide great flexibility. The claim for the new oven with the rear burner is better circulation and heating speed. I would like to know if the claim pans out. BUT, the oven door on this oven only gets a little warm, not hot. Unfortunately the second oven is the old design with no convection or broil and a hot door. Why oh why? I live an hour from Reading so I don't know if that improves service or not. American - THe only one with fully functioning (broil and convection) small AND large ovens. For Capital and Bluestar, the small oven has no convection and no broiler. For meals for one or two, the small oven is real handy. Burner flame appeared to go straight up, not out. I tried heating small amount of water in large pan and the heat seemed well distributed. One result, smaller pans handled higher flame without the flames climbing the sides. I made an appt with distributor 2 weeks ahead and got stood up so I did all demoing on my own. Had broiler and oven problems but that could be bad hookup (dumb at the distributor). Capital - Not sure how well the ovens work in terms of even baking. Also, broiler is behind glass. I don't know how this affects cooking. Has rotisserie (don't know if i'll use it) and self clean. I think Connoisarrian has convection in the second oven. Mixed reviews of grill and build quality. Accomodated various pot sizes by turning down the flame. THe quantity of complaints about Capital's service attitude concerns me. I like the burners. I can't tell if burners of varying intensities or all burners the same is better. Is there a difference between a 23000 btu burner turned down and a lower btu burner? (I'm not talking simmer here, just regular cooking.) People who like their ranges from these three companies please let me know how evenly the ovens work and what makes you happy and unhappy about them....See MoreWolf vs BlueStar One More Time
Comments (19)They all are "Saluting the Flag" that SZ Wolf, Gag & Miele put up,Stooxie. Price fixing and all, and it's probably been 5 years (or close to it) when I warned about this "Possible", now actual occurrence. They all watch each others prices and our govt makes it easy for them by "Blessing their Price Fixing". I really do feel badly for you folks that are shoveling out tons of dough, for things that just 5 years ago were more reasonably priced. It's like the Appliance manufacturers are not part of this "Lousy Economy". Too many of our folks are making hard sacrifices now, home values dropped, less income, etc etc, but these appliance folks live in their own world --- The World of "Economy be Damned" We will do as we please.
