Sell me on wall-mount vanity faucets . . .

Quick bio: we're building a home (for the second time in ten years--crazy, but necessary, lol), and last night as I was brushing my teeth over the 80's pink tile countertop and deteriorating brass lav faucet in our rental, it hit me that not only could I get an integrated sink in my bath, but I could put the faucet on the wall so I would NEVER have to clean around a spigot and handles again. Woo-hoo!

We're building in farmhouse-style, and I thought the wall-mounted faucet would be a nice nod to early plumbing.

I can see how having the valve behind the wall could be a pain, but considering that I'd get a really high-quality faucet, it should last until I'm dead. ;o) So, I'm wondering . . . what are the pro's and con's I haven't come up with yet?

I'd also love to see photos of your vanities with wall-mount faucets . . .

My wall mount faucet is in but the vanity and sink are not so photos will have to wait until next week. We chose to go this route as it is a small ensuite and every inch counts. Was supposed to have a 48" vanity but DH made the shower 6 inches bigger (4' x 4') so now the vanity is only 36". He had not idea how much space us ladies need for our 'stuff'.
Anyhow, we chose a simple set from CDN Riobel and I can't wait to use it!!!
Will post once done.

My water stream hits the center of the sink drain - just dumb luck I suppose when installing. Faucetdirect.com search allows you to pick spout length. thank you! I've already probably-picked out a faucet (Cifial Highlands, which more or less matches my kitchen faucet) but I was hoping to see inspiration pix. I have not found a single picture of a wall mounted faucet with anything besides a traditional vanity (don't want that) or super modern vessel sink (don't want that either). Is there some design rule against console sinks with wall mount faucets?

Great points palimpsest. I have a wall mounted faucet but it is with a farm style sink (not a vessel sink). I planned and planned the location of the faucet above the rim of the sink. The end of my spout (where the water exits) is 4" above the rim of my sink. The sink is about 35" at the rim, above the floor. There is a counter at the side that makes the counter height 36". My rough in is about 40" above the floor. I have a tall wainscot so my mirror needed to be mounted higher. It would be marginal for your use, but my DDIL is 5'1" and she didn't complained about it when they visited. If you plan your installation this should not be a problem for you when you mount your mirror. With you being 5'1", your eyeballs will be at about 56-57" above the floor I think. Start there and plan your installation to meet your mirror viewing needs. If you have a large variance of people heights in the home, maybe you could have the vanity step down to your height needs at your sink. Or have 2 vanities of different heights.
