Any info or experience with Cascade grills?

I'm considering buying a Cascade 4-burner gas grill but can't find anything about it on the Internet. This is a grill for sale at Fred Meyer stores in the western U.S. Does anyone know anything about these grills? Thanks!

I also saw this grill at Fred Meyer and have been considering purchasing it. I, too have searched but can't find any information or reviews on its performance. FM's end of the season prices make it look like a great deal since it seems well constructed and includes a rotisserie with infrared heating. I'd be interested in hearing whether you have purchased it &, if so, what you think.. or if you've accessed any other information on it.

I was looking at these grills as well and finally picked one up last night. All over the inside the boxes are tapes up with tape from "SureHeat".

After doing more research online, it turns out that SureHeat makes several grills and sells them under different names, names they hope people will recognize and help sell them. They aren't necessarily bad, but it is a little low of a tactic I think.

Anyhow, about.com has a couple of their grills reviewed from a year or two back and they scored rather well, the only caveat was the price on some of them. However, since this grill (the X2000) is $299 it's quite a bit lower than the others in the range.

Costco apparently also sells these grills under a different name, and typically for $399.

The sureheat website has been down all day, but I'm sure they will have a similar grill listed with a different name on their website.

As far as the Cascade X2000 goes, here's my info so far:

First off, get some help with the box as it's pretty damn heavy. Second, take the time to carefully open everything so you don't damage anything, and set it all out on a counter or somewhere. I put it together in a couple hours by myself, the most difficult part being the placement of the top half onto the bottom half, it being quite heavy and bulky I was still able to do it myself, though if you have help I do suggest it.

Right away I noticed I was missing a large bolt, it was part of page 1 of the instruction page. Connecting the back panel to the base of the unit. After going on further I found that the back panel doesn't hold the bulk of the weight so I went on without it. I'll contact SureHeat and have them send me another.

The instructions are kind of odd and not written that well. Parts of the manual weren't as clear as they could be, but I was able to figure it out with some common sense and guesswork.

I haven't fired it up yet so I can't give my opinion on it, but for a sub $300 grill I don't think you can go wrong. I got mine for about $240 after an employee discount so it was a killed deal for me. Here's hoping the SureHeat website comes back online soon to compare grills as there is ZERO information out there for Cascade Grills.

This is quite a rose specific question, rather than vines in general, so I think maybe the Rose Forum will be able to give you more precise information. My initial thought is that 3 ft high is too low for ZD and that it will need to be trained down as its natural tendency is to grow up. It might work but it will be quite maintenance heavy to keep it where you want it. I don't quite follow your last paragraph. ZD is widely available container grown here so I'm not sure that will be a problem. Here is a link that might be useful: Rose Forum

Any info on the 'Perfect Flame' grill from Lowes?

This posting is well after the fact, but an FYI on top of the hours worth of testimonials above to confirm the Perfect Flame GSC 3318 (side by side lids)was a complete waste of money. Contrary to that implied by the Lowes salesman, I did not purchase this unit because of price, I was furnishing a new house and simply liked the arrangement and size of the unit. Having had punted Home Depot years earlier to become a loyal Lowes customer based on their merchandise quality and customer service, it did not seem necessary to do a whole bunch of research. My mistake. I purchased this grill in July of 2006 as a floor model. From the first use forward, the left hand side would light, then flash and whistle; kind of like the backflash sound of an acetylene torch. Due to my work load at the time, I had not time to pursue a fix and figured it was probably a simple adjustment. As winter approached, it was clear the heat output on the working side was not sufficient to offset the northern Michigan winter temperatures, and eventually I abandoned the grill on my front porch until now, fall of 2012. Oh, yes, as our Lowes friend suggested, I purchased a cover with the grill so it would be protected even though it was stainless steel and its home was a covered porch. Even so, the rusting "stainless" steel reared its ugly head about two years after this "grill" attained decoration status as a result of the high-quality cover I purchased dry rotting and blowing into the front yard. So, six and one half years after the fact, my wive and I wheeled it into the garage and I was about to attempt to fix this engineering wonder and tribute to global trade, but after searching for a manual and reading an hours worth of negative postings,I am considering otherwise. Has anybody out there come to a similar juncture and successfully reconditioned or should I say rebuilt a similar unit with aftermarket parts? Anybody have a link to an owners manual? Mine is probably at the same location as my receipt, which is currently MIA along with all of my other paperwork from 2006. Anyways, that is my experience to date. Congrats to those who did not get taken and have similar grills that work correctly. Shame on Lowes for joining or at least repeating Home Depot's race to the bottom with this product.

Hollysprings - Ventilation price is not the issue. The issue is the cutting and moving of cabinets. My kitchen is a kosher kitchen which has a lot of complications when doing a layout. My kitchen is spacious to accommodate the need for doubles of everything, yet it is very utilitarian. Its design is superb and meets my needs. I have had professionals chef cook in my kitchen and praise the functionality as well as the beauty of my kitchen. In fact, one asked to come back and use my kitchen again. Ventilation only becomes an issue if I install a grill or a CC or BS. We have finally concluded we cannot install a CC or BS range because cutting and moving cabinets will cause other issues and will not look well. We are contemplating your suggestion of protecting a deck area. Also under consideration is a 30 inch BS char broiler which can be placed where a breakfast bar is currently located. The breakfast bar can be removed and a new counter top and 3 cabinets can be installed. If we do this, we will ventilate with a 900 CFM unit (although only 600 is necessary, I believe). I understand your feelings about the lack of ventilation with my electrolux - I was concerned. But the engineers at electrolux assured me it was not necessary - and it hasn't been!!! I cook constantly and many people use my kitchen. No one has felt the ventilation to be inadequate - perhaps cathedral ceilings and a ceiling fan help odors to disappear. I have wallpaper in my kitchen and there are no smoke marks or oil splotches on it, nor are there any on my ceilings. Sidpost - thanks for the interesting suggestion, Sandra, I called solaire and firemagic. Both did not recommend the usage of their portables indoors. I had thought of putting a grill on a moveable cart and placing the cart right outside my french doors so I could stay inside and grill outside. But they did not think that was a good idea. I try to think outside of the box - but safety is a paramount concern. If you find a way to achieve our aim - let me know.

Do you live anywhere near a Miele Gallery? I mean, close enough to take a trip? I've even taught the folks there a couple of things I knew from reading the manuals, but they have a lot of units on the floor and helpful people. There's a "heat shield" that goes between the columns, with a covering strip. The common demonstration set up in most stores is the 30" fridge and 18" freezer in a dark brown veneered cabinet that shows off the flush integration. BTW, that's flush to 25" deep, not 24". The disadvantage to the over/unders is that you have four systems instead of two, and lose a little prime space to the horizontal divider between the freezers and fridges. The advantage, of course, is that you have that much more fresh food space and all the fresh without bending. What you lose, however, is one of my favorite features: The bottom drawers! The drawers go the full depth, so you can put a full sized platter in one, ready to serve, or plates requiring chilling. Also, there are the temperature controls for the drawers. I keep produce in the top one and meats in the bottom one. They hold beautifully. And I can easily change if I'm entertaining. There's also a 36" all freezer if you like. I don't have a picture of a platter, but here are individual table plates with fish and eggs.
