Oven Installation Curiosity

Hello All

I am a longtime lurker, seldom a poster, but I have a question for those of you that may have installed your own built-in oven. (or watched it done)

When I took on the task of updating our kitchen, I never anticipated the amount of time that I would have to spend with the oven installation.

One of my problems was that the oven would not fit into the oven cabinet. The depth of the oven was 1/2 inch greater than the inside of the cabinet, requiring a butcher job on the back of the cabinet. When I asked a kitchen installer how often he encounters this, he told me about 1/2 of the ovens are oversize like that.

I think that is ludicrous. Why can't the appliance manufacturers build within the size of normal cabinets?

Has anyone else encountered this? Was it expensive, or a big problem for you to solve?

Been Bugging me.
