I've had my SZ since '99 when the price tag didn't bother me. Now, its up there. I have a few friends who are realtors who tell me I've added to the value of my house as SubZero has such a great reputation. Even with the mechanical complexity of the ice on the door, I really haven't had any failures once I figured out that you have to switch from a Culligan Reverse Osmosis water purifier to a Kinetico Quickflow for the Ice maker to keep from overflowing. With the low water pressure of the Culligan, I had to manually defrost the icemaker when I tested to see if the freezer really can go below zero. Back in those times, the SZ was the only fridge with ice on the door that consumed less than 900Kw/H a year thanks to the air lock on the door dispenser and having two separate compressors for fridge and freezer. My house is solar, so that was very important to me. If water on the door dispenser stops flowing, you set the fridge temp below 34 and it froze. You can't leave salad stuff outside the crisper even at 34. It will freeze and decay quickly. Same thing with fruits like strawberries. They go bad faster if they start to freeze. My beer has never been as cold and delicious since it started resting in the meat drawer. Your mileage may vary. My other appliances are a beloved F&P dishdrawer and an AGA cooker. But, thats another thread.

I can't quote a one price fits all. If you're installing new kitchen cabinets then it's fairly easy to have your cabinet company make a matching panel for your unit. Our cabinets were installed 26 years ago and although the original company is still in business they no longer make my style panel nor do they use the same stain. I actually got an even better price on my BI 36R then what I originally quoted above so I didn't have any qualms about going the custom panel route. The cabinet company asked me to give them one of my existing door fronts so that they could custom mill an identical panel and also do a custom stain match. I paid $1600 for two wood panels - one for the refrigerator and a smaller one for the grill. That price also included some cabinetry work since I had to remove the small cabinet above my refrigerator since the BI 36 is taller than the 501F it replaced. It also included the Sub Zero Pro handle that I ordered. I really like this new unit. It is incredibly quiet, much quieter than the old one and maintains a set temperature perfectly.

We are looking for a 30" built-in fridge for our kitchenette, and seem to have narrowed it down to: Sub-Zero BI-30U Miele KF 1811 SF Liebherr C 1651 Unfortunately, I can not find the prices online for neither Miele nor Sub-Zero, but Liebherr is quoted at about $4800. I'm sure, the others will be more... Sub-Zero, actually, has one feature going for it (besides being American-made)  the compressors are on the top. This means, that while being the same height, more of the usable interior is reachable to a short person. My significant other is 5' tall, so this is a concern... But if it is as hard to open as comments suggest ("shoulder dislocation" is already mentioned here), then she may prefer Liebherr anyway, and just surrender the top shelf to me... Miele is an enigma, though  any feedback on that? Thanks! Yours, doofus

None of my replacement pieces were replaced so quickly. Not even a piece of scribe that I am still waiting for. The damaged sink cabinet took two months to be replaced. The "wood-mode" errors on the washer-dryer cabinet took two months. The fridge panels, they are not replaced yet. We've been without panels for months. I've been told that there are delays because of Wood-Mode factory shut-downs due to the slow economy and a variety of other excuses. Can't believe that Wood-Mode let these people deal their products. Thank you for telling me that fridge panels might be as high as 2 k.
