Slather your legs with baby oil or Neutrogena sesame oil while wet from a shower and then shave....smooth as silk.

Sure, if you can stand the "pain", use and epilator. The one I use now is the Panasonic 3-in-1, and to me it is virtually painless. No more razor burn, and the hairs don't come back for about 3/4 weeks. I haven't used a regular razor in years.

my bikini area is very sensitive and for that area i rub deodorant in the opposite direction of the hair growth before i shave. it is thicker and allows the razor to glide better then shaving cream. many come with vitamin E to help sooth that sensitive area. the only down side is that it goops up in the razor blade and you have to rinse it out often. for me, it has reduced a lot of that razor burn.

I read this on another discussion board and tried it:

After shaving, use Desiten (sp?) on the shaved area. It's made for diaper rash. You only have to dab a very thin coating of it on, for it to work. No more razor burn. It works.

The downside is that this stuff smells very strong and medicinal. You wouldn't want to use it right before a big date.

Maybe do your shving in the evening and wash it off the next morning.

I found that if I moisturize with lotion the night before it really helps (Althought that was before I started using Neutrogena Body Oil everyday and now I use it exclusively). Also I found on another forum to use hair conditioner. So I tried that in my bikini area (always nasty itchy bumps there) and let that sit while I shaved my legs and then after the shower I put on Biosilk Silk Therapy (you can use on your skin also) and it worked GREAT.

I just got some 'bump stopper' or 'bump patrol' something or other. Worked VERY well, but stung like I-don't-know-what. I mumbled and yelped incoherently, while jumping up and down and kind of sideways. I applied it knowing that it would sting, but my boyfriend said it sounded like the Special Olympics gone wrong in the bathroom.

I was thinking about getting waxed, but I might look into getting an epilator. That way, instead of being at the mercy of the technician, I can do as much as I can stand and come back to it later.

To avoid razor burn make sure you exfoliate before shaving.

Those exfoliating gloves work well, but a good rough washcloth can be used if your skin is very sensitive.

Aloe vera after shaving can tame the redness and help the skin heal faster.

I find that I get razor burn with my double-blade razor, where I never did with my single-blade razor. Anyone else experienced this? I am going back to my old razor.

I'm assuming you're talking about razor burn in the bikini area, and I can tell you that if you will just "work through it" and keep shaving the area, eventually your skin will "toughen up" there and you won't have the difficulty. You still should treat the area as gently as possible -- but if you keep at it regularly, in time, you will likely not experience the burn. (I know that's not a huge comfort right now, but just know that it does get better!)

I have the most sensitive skin in history in the bikini area...I went for a wax once and broke out in red bumps the next day that didn't go away for 1 week. I've also tried everything including lidocaine gel (bikini zone) for that area, using different types of shaving gel, including non-fragrant,and using an electric razor. I went for 2 laser treatments a few years back and due to the expense, I didnt' continue it. I'm seriously thinking of doing it again.

Maybe you need to use a sharp blade.. I have found that if you change your blade every time you use it, I get less razor burn, however this is expensive. I have found a way to keep my blades sharp though with something called the ecoRazo. I added it to the link section.
