Update on my tomatoes part 1. (pics)

Hello i will be posting each week about my the progress of my sweet 100 tomaotes. the pics shown here were taken today and are now about 2 months from seedling.

As you can see their are plenty of unripe fruit and some more flowers forming...and just as much stressed leaves to go with the fruit hehe.

Im not sure if these look healthy but they are about 4-5 feet

and still growing taller by the day.

also you can see a semi ripe fruit...i think its semi ripe any way.

I started most of my seeds Jan. 4. I transplanted this year on 2/24, two weeks earlier than last year. It's been pretty mild with only one light frost and a lot of 80's/60's days the last week or so. My first fruit is on my first container plant, which I thought was a Bloody Butcher, but since Bloody Butcher is a potato leaf variety, this is a mystery plant. The seeds were given to me so I won't complain and the plant is setting fruit nicely too. Most of my in-ground plants are putting out their first blooms. I'm growing 30 plants(many colors and sizes) this year, 6 of which are at a church garden. I live in the DFW area. Happy growing, Pete

Well I'm using the Miracle grow only for the indoor growing to get the stocky and strong for outside. Once outside I will not use it. Outside I'm using Cow manure and bonemeal, and also mixing in coffee grounds into the soil. I thin the soil is pretty fertile and will not need any amendments. Inside the the soil is that peat moss stuff so MG is also convenient to get quick acting nutrients into the soiless mix. Lazyhat.. that's pretty much exactly what I do. The MG potting mix grows very healthy, lush, green seedlings, and then they go into the garden, where I plan on adding some Black Kow manure and no chemical fertilizers. And I will have to start Part 5 very, very soon...I'll bet by the end of the year, we'll have a Part 20 or something...that's why I'm posting links to all of the previous parts, so we have all of them linked to one page if anyone wants to look back at previous photos.

I like to call this picture, "Tuesday": Two Costoluto Genovese, Two Cherokee Purple, One Eva Purple Ball, One Roma, One Acorn Squash, Four Serrano Peppers, and a whole bunch of Sungolds. The CP's are that split and the CG's have a bit of sunburn, but all in all, a good day! :-)

All of those things would prefer their own pot because of the different needs they have. The tomato looks like it might recover and grow if given it's very own, larger (perhaps much larger depending on variety) container. Soon. It also looks like maybe it has had too much water recently. Cheers!

Nice to see garden photos while it is cold and snowy by me. Yous look like they will be pushing out lots of ripe ones soon.

Uh i just grow them in the dirt with some weed mat to keep weeds at bay and keep dirt away from my tomatoes...do you guys think that red one is ripe?

SO jealous that you can garden outside in Dec!!

I started two varieties in 6" grow cubes, in Sept., and have baby fruit. I find myself unable to buy tomatoes in the grocery store now and am trying to use telepathy to get my hydroponic tomatoes to grow FASTER...

So jealous...

Lol..i tryed my first ripe one todAY...couldnt wait till new years lol and it was tasty way better than store bought...maybe thats what makes kids hate tomatoes...but any way is it called sweet 100 because it is just a little bit sweet cause when i ate it i could only taste a bit of sweetness maybe not ripe enough?

I grew Sweet Baby Girls last year and the first few were not as sweet as the later ones. Perhaps Sweet 100 is similar.

How much did you prune the plant in the picture ?

I grew SS 100's this year and did not get the perfect groupings/clusters you have. I didn't prune at all and got plenty of tomatoes but no clusters as nice as yours.

i just picked the suckers..but i let it have 2 leaders ...i think its just cause they are differnt types.
