Red Robin Tomato Question

I have been growing Red Robin Tomatoes on my patio (thanks to a suggestion from the forum) and they have started to have little yellow flowers!!!

I think this is a good thing, right?

Also, how soon after they flower can I expect tomatoes to grow?!?!

I feel like the plants have been growing for at least 2 months which I am pretty sure is a looooong time for this type. I'm new to all of this so not quite sure

Any help you can offer would be great!

The days might not be exact due to local conditions and tomato breed, but you can judge where you are at and predict the future with it.

Am I ever glad you posted that link, for two reasons.

First, I have over 1000 items in my faves and can never find it.

Second, that link with all its wonderful content was done by Paul, who took over from me when we last did the new FAQ's and you'll see his name at the bottom of several of the newer FAQ's and he did all the uploading.

I miss him. When I have time Ill go back to it, with its new name in my faves and see if there's some contact information.

And just to add that every year about a month or so before Xmas Chuck Wyatt, now deceased, would send me several plants of Red Robin which I'd put near a south facing window and by Xmas or a little later they'd look like miniature Xmas trees just loaded with those wee red fruits.

When you cut one open you'll see what's inside. Some of my cherry tomatoes seem to have an amazing amount of seeds and those seeds can be smaller than the seeds of larger tomatoes.

If you give me the go ahead, I will order the seeds from there. Thanks so much! ***** It's not for me to give you the go ahead, it's strictly your decision. ( smile) I guess all I can say is that the fruits of Red Robin are very small and aren't going to produce all winter and you might consider some other dwarf/compact varieties as well And with anything you grow inside you have to shake the plants when the blossoms are out b'c outside it's the wind that helps with self pollenization. Or you can run a fan aa well. I've never heard of that seed source you refer to and as I said in another post to you I'd forget about them completely and move on. To see some other compact varieties I'd go to tomatogrowers.com which is where I got the REd Robin info for you as linked to above. Good luck! Carolyn

Not to get off topic, but I love gardening/tomato memories. I have a lot of memories around gardening with my dear 'ol Dad.

Thank You, Carolyn for sharing the information about Paul and Chuck. I have grown many of the tomato varieties Chuck introduced. I love Chuck's gesture of remembering you at Christmas with Red Robin tomato seedlings! But that was how Chuck was -- a great guy and devoted to preserving tomato varieties!

thanks elskunkito definitly a different breed but the flowers look the same...very excited my fruit might begin forming soon...

now if only I could have the same luck with my strawberries :)
