Comments (6)For the kind of money that you're talking about spending ($8000) you very much ought to consider the Eurostove offer for a demonstration. I'm way behind in posting my trip report from my own trip to Eurostoves, but I learned a lot on the trip and I came away with the feeling that you owe it to yourself to try out this Culinarian range. Along with the feeling of "reward yourself!" because it's a lot of fun. My wife and I had a great time. We cooked. We asked questions. We ate. We cooked some more. We learned a lot. Granted- we had already decided on a culinarian cooktop, so we were more trying to learn about how to use it, than trying to decide if we should buy it, and we didn't pay much attention to the oven portion of the range. But if you're in the market for a high-end stove, treat yourself to a day with the Culinarian. It was a joy. It was a blast. The Eurostoves staff were knowledgeable and helpful. I don't want to gush, but the trip was everything Trevor said it would be: we got picked up at the airport and delivered to the store. We did several kinds of food (and I learned a lot about cooking over high heat) and we were returned. Considering that I very much hope to be in this house for 10 more years, the price of a plane ticket and a day away from the office were totally worth what I learned. At the end of the day I was more convinced that the Culinarian was the right choice for us, and that Eurostoves was the right dealer for us to work with. When was the last time that "doing your homework" was so tasty and so much fun? It may not work for you, but you should really consider the offer. Really looking forward to working with this cooktop....See MoreNew 48 inch range - DCS vs. American Range vs. Five Star
Comments (3)In general: I have had open and closed burner gas tops and closed are 100% easier to clean, I would never never get open unless I had daily cleaning help. The BTU rating on the highest burner is important, as well as a very small BTU simmer burner. I also need continuous grate to slide a pot over, and prefer mechanical knobs to electronic keypads. There are some cooktops where the grates are too high off the burners and there are complaints of a feeling of under-powered burners despite the BTU rating. I think this whole open burner for the home thing is nothing short of ridiculous, it is more of a high volume restaurant issue, but his is gardenweb... I do not like the performance of gas ovens. I like electric and I love the functionality of convection. I would never buy an oven without convection. So I would vote for closed burner gas cooking and electric ovens....See MoreDCS 48" Range – Large oven won't heat & temp knob doesn't light up red
Comments (2)Yes, but we had to call a repairman. He had to replace the main part under the knob that was having the issue. I think it was the thermostat that failed, but I can't remember for sure. He said it was likely because we left our oven door open to let out heat after baking in winter months. Because the controls are on the front of the oven, the high heat can fry the controls causing them to fail. We now leave the door shut after baking and let it vent with the fan and we haven't had any problems since....See MoreReview and First thoughts on AGA 48 inch Elise induction range.
Comments (277)@User @Anne Mulholland Cleaning is the one thing that I really dislike about the oven. But to be far I would hate cleaning any oven :) The top cooktop is extremely easy to clean. Most of the time I just use soap and water. Maybe once a week I will use Cerama Bryte to really polish the top and make it look new again. The grill is easy for the most part. The heavy metal rack and tray\basin can be just washed normally in the sink alone with the aluminum housing it sits on. The steal tray\bason that the rack sits in get discolored and nothing I have tried will remove it. The aluminum housing can also be removed and cleaned. What I dislike about the grill is there is no way that I can see to clean the top were the element is. If anyone has figured that out let me know. The actual ovens are about the same as every other oven that I've had that does not have the self cleaning feature. In my case, I removed the oven racks and the easy slider racks and bottom panel that @A Bowditch referred to. These can all be cleaned in the sink. Even though the manual has instructions on how to remove the vertical side rails that he racks lock on to, I could not remove them. (Cleaning would have been a lot easier once removed). I also removed the back plate that the fan sits behind. Then I used a oven cleaner that was recommended to me by a friend and let it sit overnight. I did not use anything like easy-off as i read that this could damage some ovens and I didn't want to risk it. Some hard to remove spots required the help of a razor blade to help remove. All in all I wish this oven had a self cleaning option, but without being able to remove the side rails i don't know if i would trust using it anyway. Hope that helps....See Moreteachmkt
