growing tomatoes upside down

I just put a tomatoe seedling into my upside down tomatoe planter.I got it at the bargain store for $4.00.You put the plant through the star shaped slits in the bottom (facing down)remove the seedlings pot and fill the bag with dirt then hang it in a sunny window..The directions for doing this were unclear so I google and got a video shown what to do.. Has anyone else tried doing this? This planter I bought today says it was advertised on tv ,and shows cucumbers ,peppars ,and zucs growing out of it ,just hanging down..No need to stake.I think this could be great if it works.I'm in Alberta and am our season is short.
