Scum bag neighbors got evicted hurray!
Comments (9)I still find it hard to believe myself, but I wasn't going to risk it. Home is suppossed to be a place of retreat and tranquility, not conflict. I just wanted to go about my daily home life, with worrying about somebody wanting a fist fight. Other people have been getting evicted left and right where I live, but it's not because of me. I'm moving to another place in a few months, because I've had somebody tapping on my back window, and strange people knocking on my door at odd hours of the night asking for so and so. My door stays closed though. If I don't know you, I don't open. My biggest pet peeve, is being panhandled in the parking lot by some acoholic. They always get a big no from me....See MoreTreadmill in the LR
Comments (24)Until a six months ago, our treadmill was in our LR. LR is the main room where we hang out as we do not have a FR at the moment. The treadmill definitely got more use in the LR than it ever did in our workout room (outside pole barn). As soon as the snow season ended, the treadmill went to DB & SIL and we now have a recumbant bike in its place. As soon as the snow stopped we started walking from our home to the local park where there is a 2 mile track. We do a total of 5 miles from home, 2 loops around the track and back home. Plan to do so year round unless it snows. The cold doesn't bother me, the only real need is earmuffs. I have found that I keep a more consistent routine when I can walk outside, which explains why the treadmill got very little use. DB is now hanging clothing from it! I love my recumbant bike and do not mind using that in the LR as I can watch tv or listen to music while using it. I usually try to exercise between 4-5 a.m. I don't own a bike at the moment, and unless/until I do, the bike will stay in the LR. As I sit here in my office, I look over my shoulder and can see my stair stepper. It is positioned to face out the floor to ceiling windows. We live on a heavily wooded property and I like that I can take in the view while getting a bit of exercise. This time of year the birds are out and their babies are learning to fly. So, I say go for it. If you are more likely to use it in the LR, by all means. We had a bbq over the weekend so we moved the recumbant into my office while we had guests, but this morning it went back into the LR. While every other piece of workout equipment is housed in our pole barn, we haven't yet set up a climate control system, so those machines sit for now as it just too hot to use the barn. I've found that I need to mix it up when it comes to exercise. So depending on the time of year (weather) or my personal favorite exercise of the moment, you can find one or another piece of exercise equipment in our LR! It's your living space and that's what you are doing, living, and living well if you are exercising! Heck, you can always move it to another room if you need to get it out of the way for a party. Good luck with your treadmill....See MoreEviction?
Comments (11)I feel like you've left out a lot. When does/did your lease expire? Did you stay even a day beyond the lease term? Did you pay your rent when it was due, etc.? Did you notify them in writing of the missing property? Did you threaten to remain past the end of your lease? Or stay past the end even a little bit? That may be why they are proceeding to get a formal legal judgment. Your lawyer ought to be able to help you w/ this, but maybe you could send them a registered letter stating that you vacated the premises at the time specified by the lease and have no claim to staying longer. Then you could send this to the court as well (or find some way to have the letter introduced into evidence in the court), and maybe that would mean the judge would rule the proceedings moot, and you wouldn't have the eviction on your record?...See MoreEvicting
Comments (19)Greetings Curt, Your reference to the ownership of your establishment seems to me to be a bit up in the air - you speak of it being in your name, but later there's a reference that leads me to think that perhaps she contributed to its purchase. If she's part owner, regardless of whose name is on the deed, it does have some bearing on at least the morality of your acting as though the place is yours. I haven't heard much regarding your lady's opinions and feelings about the son's being such a layabout. Has she given any visible indication of her views regarding the situation, even though it may not have been discussed, which I'm somewhat assuming that it hasn't? I think that there needs to be a discussion between you regarding the young man's activities (or lack of productive ones). Once schooling is over, and for many this begins while it's going on, it's time for adults to begin to pay their way. A viewpoint could be that, as an adult, he should be contributing his fair share to the operation of the establishment. If he's not working, it seems to me that, since both of you are busy, at a minimum he should be carrying the lion's share of the operation of the house, including food prep., cleaning, laundry, etc. And shouldn't he be helping pay for the food ... electricity (or shut off the games?) One could ask him to help pay for food ... and power ... and internet connection ... or threaten to pawn the machine to help pay for those expenses? You're a creative fellow, aren't you, Curt? May I add that I think that it would be helpful if you can keep some humor involved, as some fun, along with sugar, often helps the medicine go down. ole joyful...See Morekelly726
