Flea, fleas & more fleas! Help!
Comments (6)I'd be very surprised if these are actual fleas just hanging out in the garden and not flea beetles. Real fleas want to be on something warm-blooded, not garden soil. Flea beetles really look and move like animal fleas. It's a little creepy. Mustard also is said to work as a trap crop for flea beetles, especially if it is planted sparsely in a dry, hot, open place. Certainly seems to be looking like the Year of the Flea Beetle! Several local people that I've talked to are having really bad problems this year. The flea beetles are actually doing significant damage on young plants, rather than light damage on their normal victims (eggplant, peppers, etc). They also seem to be the dusk feeding variety around here. It makes me wonder if the dusk-feeding subspecies from Kenya has just arrived in the USA. Wish I could find more information about it. Well, Steve, hope your plants recover! Bellatrix...See MoreIs our apartment infested with moths?
Comments (3)I've seen two houses infested with grain moths, one being my father's. The moths eventually died out when all grains/cereals were kept in air tight containers. At my dad's house, we didn't finally finish them off until we found an old package of Archway cookies buried under piles of old mail (think Hoarders on A&E). Amazed me when we would find cats in "unopened" cereal boxes. My guess is the factory did not properly seal the bags of cereal and the female moths could smell that food source. It was weird visiting him during the worst of it. Little moths flying all over the place. I put up hanging sticky strips meant for flies. They became covered with moths. My dad's problems started because of all the bird food he kept in the house. I moved all that into the detached garage (and that eventually turned into a huge mouse problem but that's another story). With the bird food gone, the moths found other food sources in the house. Just was not a pleasant situation. I've never seen an infestation of clothes moths. I've found evidence of them living in some of my residences over the years but only an empty pupa here and there. KC...See MoreFleas,Fleas & more Fleas
Comments (7)Please help me!! We have a place by a lake in Burr Oaks MI that we go to 6 months out of the year, April through Oct. Last year almost everyone was having problems with bites around their feet. Even the dogs where getting bites all over their stomachs. I put this stuff called Seven all over the ground and it seem to help a little. The wired thing is these bugs didnÂt bit everyone, my husband and I never got any bits but my daughter was getting eating alive and she was sitting next to me. I would say about 95% of the dogs where getting bites too. ItÂs like these bug are picky about who they bite! You canÂt see then or feel them when they are on you, but you see and feel the bites after they are gone. Some how we brought the bugÂs home with us! Now my cat is itching too!! She has licked almost all her fur out of her stomach and back legs. I have spent over $300.00 at the vets and he keeps telling me they are fleas!! I wish they where fleas, I know how to treat them!! I worked for this vet of over 8 years and he couldnÂt find a flea on either animal. But he keeps saying they are allergic to the bit and that is why they are getting the skin reaction. I use frontline" on both the cat and dog, it seems to work for only 2 weeks before they start starching again; its supposed to work for 4 weeks. I bought "Mycodex" to spray on the rug and furniture and I bought a flea and tick mist (a repellant) to spray on the animals every couple of days but still my dogs stomach looks beat red and my cat still isnÂt getting better either. ItÂs driving me nuts!! I was just watching the animal plant when they said something about sand fleas!! Could this be what I have?? Do these sand flies live on animalÂs likes fleas do?? Someone please help!! I wont to prove to my vet that I am not crazy!! Or am I ???? I have pictures of my dogÂs stomach that I took tonight!! I can send them if you can help!! Can anyone tell me what to use to get these bugs out of my house? How do you kill something you canÂt see?? Nancy...See MoreTermites have infested on of my vegetable beds. Please help

I've seen many people with this same problem suggest nematoads. Has anyone had any success with that? Thanks for the feedback....See MoreNirvana9
