I really wish my upstairs neighbors ill

They are a white trash couple. The act nice on the surface. One time I went upstairs asking them nicely to tread nicely.

When they asked me to elaborate, I informed them nicely that I can hear them if they stomp or run up there.

They acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. The rolled their eyes and acted like they never do that.

Gosh, how I wish them ill. I keep hoping that both of them as well as their offspring and their offspring would come down serious ailments that would hamper their movements. That would be really funny to see.

It must suck being you. I hate crappy neighbors, they should be shot.

You call them "white trash"? Is there any other kind of trash?

Well, wishing that won't get you any quiet.

Have you even tried taking this up with the landlord? That would be my next step, after asking the neighbors nicely to stop stomping.

You've got a choice--continue to do nothing but harbor ill thoughts towards these people, or take some steps to get some quiet. It's up to you.

Well, it was a real tree guy and when I got home from work I saw they didn't just take down the dying tree, but both trees next to it too! The whole corner is in the sun now! We moved the hydrangea and most of the hostas this morning. I'm moving the butterfly bush to that corner now and guess what's going in front of it??? :) In the spring we'll till the area and mix in top soil, compost, and dehydrated manure and my garden will be twice as large in the back!! I'm so excited, but who's going to weed all that?

Have you addressed the noise issue with the management? If by housework, you mean that your upstairs neighbor is coming home at 11 pm and starting to vacuum, I think you have cause for a noise complaint. Especially if all the units have marble floors. Is there anything in your lease about noise or quiet hours or needing to have area rugs down to lessen the noise? Bring this to the attention of the neighbors and the management. I can't blame the management for not working with you on breaking your lease when all you have done to remedy the situation is to talk to the neighbors one time. So here's what I'd do. First, I'd start documenting the noise. Every day. Every time. Jot it down in a notebook or on your computer. "11 am Saturday. Vacuuming. Can't hear TV set on volume 80." "Midnight. Thursday. Woken up by neighbor's footsteps as he returned home. Kept awake by vacuuming and dishwasher." Second, I'd go back to the neighbors. Of course they don't realize they are making so much noise. Tell them that you and your kids are being woken up by the noise--be specific as to time and type of noise--and ask them nicely to deal with this. It doesn't matter to you what they do--put down area rugs, change their housekeeping schedule--but between the hours of, say, 9 pm and 7 am, you would appreciate their efforts to reduce the noise traveling into your unit. Document this and all conversations with them and their responses. They have little choice as to their working hours, but they can try to reduce the noise. And they can certainly limit housework to more standard hours, like during the day when most people are awake. Third, go to management. Show them your log of at least one week's noise disturbances. Ask them what they are going to do. Ask them what else you can do. Be proactive. Continue to give management weekly updates on the noise situation. They need to know that it is a constant, ongoing problem. If you complain once and never again, they are going to think the problem is solved. Fourth. If nothing else works, could they move you to a different unit, preferably one on the top floor? Fifth. If that fails, you have the option to break the lease. Yes, you will have to pay the rent until the unit is re-rented. You signed a contract. You have to honor the contract. Breaking the lease is a last resort. You have to try all your other options first.

That lady sounds like she really is disturbed and I'd talk to the landlord or super about previous problems. Maybe she has family that should be seeing to her in some way. Her problem (if there is a real one) may be the family across the hall from you, but for weird structural reasons in the bldg, it sounds to her like you're the problem... or else she's reliving some previous problem from another time and place, and imagining you're it. Next time she wakens you (or hammers on the door or upstairs) get hold of the super and let him deal with her - she can't be waking you up at all hours because she's nutty. Ask the super if there have been previous problems with her and up/down neighbours before this.

Our "front door" (its on the side of the house with a small patio IS clearly labeled and easy to see. His front door however just has his mailbox with a faded name and his number. UPS is putting "missed" notices on his door. He however is not putting them on our door. Nor is he directing the UPS man to the correct door. The only way I see the missed labels is because I had to "sneak" up to his front door to grab a package (that was for me) off his front stoop. They knock..BANG very hard on his door (I don't think he has a doorbell) and he does not answer. I believe he does not answer for three reasons. 1. He has his music/porn (yes it has started again) up so loud he can't hear them. 2. He has gone deaf 3. He is just inconsiderate (if he WAS considerate, he would walk the couple of feet to stick the missed notice on OUR door). I called UPS and got transfered to soo many people, frankly I just gave up. I have displayed a GIANT poster sized sign in the office window (which is next to his front door) for UPS. Now excuse me, I have to call my Landlord AGAIN. The violent porn has started at a very alarming volume.

I live in a condo that I own. Not really sure what I can do or if anyone can help. But it does help to vent.

So since you complained here on July 6th do you hear their walking noise as much? If not, they are trying, and are allowed to walk in the condo they own.

Is there a condo board that you can take this issue to?

There are things they can do, like put down carpets or not wear shoes in the house. If you were comfortable talking to them, I'd say that you could suggest this sort of thing to them.

If not, find out what the condo association can do for you. Investigate white noise machines. Insulate the ceiling of your condo. Explore other soundproofing methods.

Or just sit back and complain.

I have not gone to the condo board. However, if you had read my original post, you would've seen that I have tried to talk to the neighbors. When they are denying having made any noise why would they be open to putting donw extra padding (they already have carpeting) or not wearing shoes?

Actually these people where high heels on tile floors as well. They are just plain incosiderate.

Again, I really don't expect any help. It does help to vent though.

Wow. Why would you EVER wish something like that on someone. It is not their fault for running or walking, it happens. If they don't do it all the time why stress about it? I'm sure you have rushed somewhere in your apartment. Bottom tenants don't have to worry about their footsteps and noise, but top tenants do, and that's not fair. Everyone should be able to walk normally without worry some of these complaints are just plain silly.

Most of you guys seem miserable, I pray for peace to calm your thoughts and worries. Think of it as blessing to have the opportunity to live close to other families, instead of treating it as a curse. We're all just people after all, try to be happy and enjoy life.
