Comments (3)If neither of you have seen these threads, they might be helpful: On viking: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/appl/msg0213404011436.html On Thermador http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/appl/msg0923545713042.html?47 On Dacor, a search will turn up older threads where the company had some issues with the durabiity of oven electronics. You also might check for bmorepanic's recent thread on Dacor ranges which may have had some discussion and/or links to other threads. Also, you might find it worth your while to do searches at eGullet and Chowhound as I believe that there have been similar recent discussions there. Languages: Watch the caps lock key. Comments (2)Dacor -probable 10 year life. GE Monogram - GE Profile with pro-style door skin. Profile is not a bad oven for the price. Miele- You should list the specific model. These have generally been very good but some had problems keeping even temps. It seems you know the deal on Thermador.Maybe a new owner will chime in but not alot of people on this forum buying Thermador ovens because of the track record you cited. BTW Paying a premium for Dual-Fuel range when you are getting a second electric wall oven makes little sense to me. Yes,electric ovens are better for certain things. Gas ovens have their advantages as well, like roasting meats and baking certain dense breads. I would poke around the threads on this forum and read about the best liked AG pro-style ranges. Capital Culinarian and Bluestar RNB and save about $1500 bucks. Or get the Capital Culinarian with self-clean gas oven and motorized rotisserie and save about $200. Or spend an extra $400 bucks and get them painted in color....See MoreHigh end appliances thermador vs. dacor
Comments (10)How old are your current Dacor ovens? The Discovery ovens with the oscillating element under glass work in a very different way than regular ovens. The idea of the oscillating element is to keep a very narrow temperature. I would want to try before you buy. I had this type of oven and unless it has been dramatically changed, it did not work for me It has a very hot preheat and the manual warns against putting food in while the oven preheats. In order to keep food from burning, once the oven has reached the set temperature, the preheat will not come on until the temperature drops 150-200F. The problem is if you are baking cookies or something where you are opening and closing the door, the preheat cannot come on and bring the temperature back up. The oscillating element are not enough to make up for the lost heat. It might work if you preheat and then put your food in for an hour and don't open the door. A regular oven works by kicking the bake element on when the temperature drops by 25F. Maybe they have fixed this problem since I had mine but the only way to tell is to try it by baking something that requires opening the door frequently....See MoreJenn Air or kitchen aid
Comments (3)Agree with Jakvis, both made by Whirlpool, so choose the one with the features you like more, and/or can get the better price on. Do NOT let the range choice rule your dishwasher and fridge choices. They don't need to match. Get the DW and fridge that have the features, and best reviews in your budget range; it doesn't matter if the brands for all three are different from each other. This older thread just popped up on this Forum's first page - it's on the subject of brand packages, and I think it would be good for you to read: http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2243102/dacor-vs-thermador-vs-other-brands-packages?n=22...See Morehome4shore
