Great question, because we are facing the exact same thing. DH has been mulling it over for a couple weeks on how to get it flush mounted in an otherwise frameless cabinet. I finally looked at it and said 'forget it.' Am I really going to notice after it's in? Because the cabinet it's going in is deep and next to shallower ones, it will have an end panel that can maybe come out next the oven a bit. If it doesn't, that black line will show and I'll cook in it just fine anyway. Can you tell I'm just tired of all the housebuilding details? So many things we probably won't think twice about while we're living there, but commiserate over so long when building!

As far as I can tell, our oven is installed the same way seeking's is. I don't remember if it's flush or recessed. I would guess flush.

A word to the wise about these F&P ovens- if you possibly can, uncrate your ovens and compare actual measurements to specs provided. There was enough DIFFERENCE in the measurements that we had to do some fairly major rejiggling on that wall. We chose to do it on the drywall side rather than the finished cabinet run side- for obvious reasons.

I remember our GC sitting us down, sweating bullets, and breaking the news as if a family member had died. We appreciated his concern, but hey- it's just a kitchen.

Moral of the story is- measure twice, cut once. And measure as soon as possible.

My ovens are installed so that they look like seekingadvice's. I'm pretty sure it's a flush install. The exposed part of the door protrudes so little, I couldn't justify the added PIA factor of trying to get the installer to figure out the recessed installation directions. And I like the way it turned out.

Yes, way too many decisions! I try to use the rule that if I won't remember it after looking at it for two or three weeks, it won't matter - but i'm just not sure about this.??

Yes, good suggestion, we have opened the crate but I'll make sure to measure it.

I'm leaning towards recessing it because of the black line that we'll see if it's not recessed but I'm going to take a good look at it tomorrow with that regard.

bzt8fs, I've looked hard at my ovens and I suppose they have a 'black line', although I never noticed it before. It doesn't look like it's NOT supposed to be there...

Even if (when) the oven were/was the only appliance in a bare, unpainted kitchen, I didn't notice the line.

I appreciate the input - the installer says that the recessed installation is much more difficult and "may" result in an uneven line along the top or a side if the cut line isn't exactly parallel to the top or sides once it's mounted.

I think we'll stick with the flush mount method.

I'd listen to your installer. Like the rest of the folks on this thread, my double ovens are flushed. Believe me, you'll be too busy enjoying the performance of these ovens instead of worrying about the black line.

My single is installed 'flush'. It looks fine.

Be sure your installer actually reads the installation directions!!!! Our guys couldn't be bothered to open a single instruction manual. As a result, wires that were supposed to be left out got stuffed inside an opening on top of the oven. This led to the replacement of both a circuit board and a fan motor. Still waiting for the fan motor.

I'm a big fan of instruction manuals.
