Recent cold weather snake observations

I thought the Thanksgiving cold snap would produce challenges to finding snakes, but yesterday I managed to find a hearty garter snake out sunning on a dark bluff face at 12:55 PM near a den. The official temperature was 35 degrees with a wind speed of 5 miles per hour.

Earlier in the month while walking to work on a brisk morning, I spotted a live Ringneck Snake on a paved road (near a small urban snake den) when the temperature was 37 degrees with winds 14 gusting to 23.
