Growing plants from seeds still in the tomato

lindainind

I purchased a vine tomato (the kind still on a vine) from a grocery store and kept it on my kitchen counter too long. But it didn't appear to rott so I didn't pitch it. And then there were tiny bumps on it and then little seedlings popping out. Now I have 3 seedings between 1 and 2 inches tall. (And lots of bumps!) It is possible to grow fruit producing plants in my south facing garden window in my kitchen this winter? And if so, do I cut the tomato up first? Plant it whole? When? What kind of soil? Fertilizer? Or am I crazy to think it possible? It would be a novelty and fun to do in Indiana in the wintertime in my kitchen!
