Made it out today!

A friend and I decided to get out and do some herping. My friend had not really herped so it was a learning experience for him;therefore, making it more interesting for me. I got to the location we were aiming for and I was really doughting the success of our efforts. It was really hot. Fortunately, while lifting a rock I noticed a red blotched critter. It took all but 3 milliseconds to figure out what it was. A 12 inch recent shed red milk was a nice find. We tired quickly and gave up after a few hours. Our totals were:

4 - Prairie Ring-necked Snakes

1 - Red Milk Snake

4 - Pickerel Frogs

2 - Dwarf American Toads

2 - Five-lined Skinks

2 - Ground Skinks

1 - Northern Spring Peeper

There is still hope for midwestern herpers.
