Hawk ID help (see photos)

I can't figure this one out - it may be a female cooper's or a goshawk. It caught and consumed this pigeon in front of a number of us on the university campus in central Iowa this week. Any opinions would be appreciated!

I'd guess coopers. Thin dark streaks on the chest versus coarse or buffy. Judging by the other pics of the adult, I'd say it's a juvenile(if these were taken at the same time).

I agree. Cooper's. I get one of these in my backyard all the time takin down pigeons..few weeks ago he got a blue jay. Always leaves me nice feathery messes, lol. But SO awesome to watch. First time I saw him make a kill I was totally amazed. Knocked that poor lil pigeon right outta the air into my driveway. He ripped it apart right there with his wings all spread out protecting his kill before he took it in a tree.
You managed to take some really nice pix..I haven't been able to do that yet, but I keep trying!

Can't say what kind of hawk it is but it could be a young one that hasn't achieved adult coloration yet. Young hawks tend to be bolder than adults and that may be why you could get so close. He may also have been invading the redtail's territory and that's why they were so upset. Just a thought.

Thanks! So when do their tails get the reddish plumage? This one had brown striped tail feathers, I thought that the adults had red tails but I know very little about red tailed hawks so I thought I would ask, thanks! Oh, also, what's that whistling noise that it is making? There is a redtailed hawk couple that lives in my area, I used To see them Together all the time, now they seem to be hanging out solo mostly, I wondered if this one might be one of their "kids" from this year or year before, this one's plumage looks a lot darker than the male and female I usually see in the area.

Yes, it's the Danze Opulence (I have one of i-chic's three on my wall). It's an OK potfiller but we are having issues with the joint leaking. (that middle-ish one with the double rings). Solution has been to just turn the faucet part of the arm clockwise to re-tighten it. We have the faucet that goes with it and have had the same issue. From Kitchen
