The fish ate them !! Our pond has two small ponds above a large pond. We always have hundreds of tadpoles in the upper two ponds. Our fish are in the lower,large pond. The fish will spend hours each day waiting below waterfall for tadpoles to come tumbling out of the upper ponds. Guess what, we have never had tadpoles in the lower pond where the fish live.

Very nice pixs of frogs n' toads, earlybird! I love our native amphibs here. Oh, and I have a frog story to share.... I had one of those hideous Cuban frogs get into my bedroom one night about two weeks ago. There was a small gap in the screen frame (fixed now) and he somehow squeezed in. I was woken to the sound of a thud on my wall, another thud on the second wall, and then "SPLAT!!!" the little !#$*!!! jumped to the ceiling, missed, and landed on ME. I shall not share the location of the landing zone. *G* This was about one in the morning. I was NOT amused. At all. My cats were going nuts, but I managed to grab the pasty white ghost frog, go out into the back yard barefooted, whereby I almost immediately stepped in dog poop. I flung the hideous thing like a major league outfielder and it landed in the middle of the lake. I hope the fish pecked at him for a really lonnnnnggggg time. Oh I do hate those evil things. When I was down south working for the vet in Jensen Beach we used to tell people to put them (both Cuban and Bufo) in a freezer bag and freeze them to death, so that might be an option for the more squeamish.

They are just there to have their meals. It will be irritating but they don't do any harm to you. I used to do the same, spray chemicals or bug sprays, but one day my daughter thought me something which I forgotten long back. She is studying in Sunnybrook School in Ontario, and they had a class one day about the frogs, tree frogs etc. That day she made me realize that these frogs and toads are important for proper bio balance. Stop hurting them and try simple steps like those mentioned by Walker.

Hello! We installed an inground pool this year and were late getting it opened because almost every day was rainy and the concrete hadn't been poured yet. We finally took off the cover when the concrete had been scheduled so that they could pour around the pool. Anyways, when we took off the cover there were so many frogs and toads. EVERYWHERE. I have been scooping them out every day, but they just keep coming back. When the concrete had finally been poured, only the occasional frog/toad would show up, but I just found eggs everywhere. The pool won't be opened until Monday so it currently looks like a green swamp with leaves everywhere. What I'm wondering is: How do I get the eggs out before the pool company comes and cleans the pool? How will I know if I have gotten them all? I am also concerned that some of the eggs have hatched and there are tadpoles swimming below the green surface of our pool. We have a saltwater pool so we can't raise the chlorine and kill them. I just have no clue what to do and this whole post is all over the place. Thanks.
