Sharon, Welcome to the BF forum. Your little pipevine plant is probably close to being ready to plant. I planted the other macrophylla that I got from Marilyn yesterday. Pipevines can take lots of neglect once they get established. Before you plant it, let it dry out between waterings. Once you plant it, keep it moist at first, then once it shows new growth, you can let it go. I mulch mine also with pine bark or old grass clippings. Last year, I mulched with newspaper that I ran through the shredder! It worked great! And I know that Susan told you about chicken poo mulch. Have fun with your new plants. Susan is a great source of BF plants. She has shared many with me. She also knows a lot about plants and butterflies. She is truly my BFF! Sandy

oh well, I fear you're all correct. Although that looks like a pretty showy moth. And the desert rose didn't seem to mind much. They completely swarmed over it and defoliated it overnight and it just put out new leaves as if nothing had happened. wonder who has passion vines around here. Someone must because I have more gulf frits than any other kind of butterfly (well, the little blue ones might outnumber them, but pound for pound, I've got more gulf frits.)
