They do pushups I think to warn other male fence lizards to git. The last two years they have really taken off at my house. The other day,I had to unclog a sewer line. I took the clean out cover off...and that smell drew a few flys as I got my tools. I come back in time to see one fly land. A fence lizard sooooo smoothly and I might add gracefully,darted out and caught the fly perfectly. How can they ever be foes? btw,I caught a jillion Alligator lizards as a kid. I never could get one to bite me.

As promised, more poop. The first photo shows the droppings from a relatively small hornworm. If you look carefully, you will note that they look like tiny hand grenades. Just the right size for GI Joe when I was a kid. Some people think they look more like short, tiny, brown cobs of corn. Those people played with the little tiny GI Joes that came out in the 80s, I guess. TY! I knew the green ones can be brown sometimes but wasn't sure about the other way 'round. The stripe is very distinct. So do you think this was an attempt at amorous activities? I've not seen the 'raised hackles' or deepened eye sockets during such before, but have only caught that activity in person twice (when there was no question what they were doing.) You can see how into their fight they were, (or foreplay, if that's the case.) I was so close to get those pics. Took this pic 9/21, can't remember if I've showed it to you elsewhere or not. I think it had just hatched. It had grit all over it & is officially the smallest one I've seen. It was cool to the touch so I assumed that's why it was brown. Maybe it's an invader. I didn't see a stripe, but wasn't looking.

looks like a mediterranean gecko to me. they're really cute. i'll warn my daughter in dickinson about that gator!!
