Leftover from your neighbor's barbeque party last summer or some dog decided to bury his bone in your yard?

Looks like a dog bone to me....does the inside have calcified marrow mesh (about the only way I know to describe it)?

Maybe a neighbor was getting it out of the way to mow and threw it too far?

Oh, and Elephants are the only animal that can not jump...to do so would break their legs. :o)

Is it hollow? I can't really tell from the picture. It kinda looks human engineered or altered, judging by those straight ends. It 'almost' looks like something from a sabal palmetto or a butia.

I was thinking that too about it looking like part of a palmetto. But not many palms here in the foothills of the blue ridge mtns.

More clues:
It was found in my back yard during my lawn renovation. It was closed off to foot traffic for almost a month and my dogs were not using it at the time and it also means I was carefully observing the yard every day as the new grass was coming in.

Although not totally out of the question, it's highly unlikely my neighbors would throw it in the yard, much less way way way into the yard where it was found. They haven't mowed their lawns in -I don't even know how long- so that wouldn't be a reason to throw it either. In fact, there's nobody to my rear and the house on one side is vacant most of the time. That leaves the house on the other side. That guy love to barbeque. He has one of these fancy commercial grills. Could this have been something that originated at a butcher shop? Possibly.

It's not hollow but it does look like it was cut by a human on that one side with the straight edge.

It wasn't buried. It was laying there right smack dab on my newly emerging grass after a going over the old lawn with a fine tooth comb with herbicide and rakes one square foot at a time. It just magically appeared and my dogs had nothing to do with it.

It weighs about 2 lbs.

I have never seen a dog bone that looks like this.

Case closed:
I talked to my neighbor he said it was a beef rib that he cooked and a kid visiting him tried to throw it into the pond from their 2nd story deck but wound up throwing in my yard instead.

Glad you solved the mystery....my dogs love those bones...especially the basted kind.

How disappointing; with that Playboy symbol on it I was sure it was part of Hugh Hefner.
