Claudia, by now you probably already know this, but it sounds like what you have are not Pekin ducks, but Muscovy ducks. Also, they will only lay...no more than once a day, if that. So, no way could she have laid 11 eggs in the last week. Are you CERTAIN the other duck was a drake? If it was, you can bet they are fertile. Is she sitting on them? Pekins usually won't bother laying in a nest. The eggs are more like an inconvience to them, I think. Mine would leave them on the edge of the pond! Never once found two of her eggstogether. Ok,,,,,, got it Silver Appleyard and I would LOVE a few females. He is a good male duck as he keeps the girl in line finding the ones who have strayed off and bringing them back to the flock. His sexual Appetite earned him the name of Hawkeye (after the M.A.S.H. womanizer and sometimes my hubby calls him Tiger :~) tanya

Ruthie, I just bought them for pets. I love ducks and I've only had muscovies and mallards and I wanted to get some different kinds and watch them grow up and then give them the best life possible for them. I didn't for no toher reason, I just want them for loving pets. Sullicorbitt, I bet they will be adorable! Send some pics when you get some! I'll send some of mine too when I get some!

Breed the "Brandywine tomato", and a "Red Sausage tomato", and call it "Brandy Sausage". Did a cross with Brandywine which produced what I guess would be a similar outcome you imagined. The result doesn't show up in the F1 because the genetics that make the sausage shape are not dominant. It took a few generations to find it and then make stable. It is called "Henry". The flavor is very good. This is an earlier generation of "Henry" There are ones like you described as "Ivy Pear". An example would be Wild Boars Farm's 'Michael Pollan' (not an F1). It is a little harder to get pear shapes without growing large numbers of F1 offspring and/or having a little luck. This is because several genes need to be present to elongate the fruit and to make that pear neck.
