I just realized.... you must think the pictures with the boxwoods are of MY garden! I WISH! I put those in there to explain the look that I am drawn to... boxwoods surrounding a flowering shrub. I'm on the west side.... maybe SOME day my gardens will resemble those if I'm lucky (and win the lottery! lol) I wasn't planning on moving the hydrangeas till Spring, but after all of the comments---I think I just may leave them be for a year or two and see how they do! Thanks for all of your input----and my husband also appreciates it! lol----Just when he thought I was done with the patio, I turn it into another project (the fence) and have yet another blank slate to start with (which to him means dollar signs.) :)

As I staged earlier, I have recently learned that I love LARGE prints. I think I would go with one really large print on the wall at the end of the dresser. It is the wall that you see when you enter the room. I think this will draw the eye to that end of the room. Your bed area is very nice but I think at the moment, people entering the room see the dresser first and that blank wall. Something large would draw the eye there and on to the bed. I love black and white photo or art and also love sepia toned ones. (even though my home does not reflect this) My classroom and office have always been done in black and white art.) I think that a sepia print of some kind would go great with your colors. Although it sounds like the brownish tone might not look good with your grayish walls, I think they would. You could frame in black and work with mat colors if you wanted some contrast. Seeing the photo that organic poster of her similar colored room helps visualize using a pop of color. Her pitcher with the dried arrangement gives the idea of what the sepia would look like. (hers is a brighter hue) You mentioned living in NO and having prints already framed. How many? Could you use them above the chest and/or the vanity? I also love the vanity where you moved it and the t.v. on the chest. (guess the pictures would fit above the t.v. that high. LOL) You might even find a sepia print of NO. The black and white photos might even work around this. I am including some links to some prints from allposters.com to let you see ideas. Since I don't know what you like, I just grabbed several. I really think the pop of sepia tone would look great with your pillow on the bed and still not move you into "colors". The rooom is great. I can show you a pic of a large art on one of my walls if you want. But the style is very, very different. I am all Southwest, Native American and very casual.

It was just that I really thought the space looked not bad (as in: not insanely messy) but it just goes to show I do not have an objective eye about my home! magothyrivergirl -- thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate it! Good eye, jenny. I don't know if the fabric is Malloy but it is Ralph Lauren, as are all the fabrics in the family room. (The sofa is Shabby Chic so we just ordered 26 yards of the RL fabric for them to make the slipcover [back in '03]. The George Smith armchairs / ottomans are also RL fabrics, but from '06. They're upholstered in the most delicious raspberry linen I brought back with us from when we lived in Belfast, but the cats did a real number clawing and they showed dirt something awful. Since the Polo store was just a mile or two from our house and since we already the RL fabric on the sofa we just went there to find fabrics which coordinated but didn't match.) I'd love to see the fabric you got from Calico Corners which is similar to the Malloy! I don't remember it as being pricey, but that was in the days before we had children so I looked at many things differently .... My favorite thing about the Malloy fabric is the beautiful pink danphe -- it may not be an actual danphe, but we found that fabric after we spent a long time in Nepal (climbed a b-i-g mountain, studied woodcarving in Patan, helped rescue and raise an orphaned newborn rhino, Mangolseen), so for us the danphe holds deep, spiritual resonance. The cleats are from Chic Cleats. Although I think they're pretty common because I also saw them at different sites, but that's the site from where I "borrowed" the images. ajsmama -- so glad you have koinobori as well! Three of the flags are koinobori and the fourth is from the matsuri of my husband's hometown. That's funny that you don't like the chandelier with the koinobori because we love it, and I love my four year-old's homage to Calder hanging underneath it. Good thing it's our house and not yours, I guess! Have fun with your son's sakana ("fish") bathroom!
