Pls. help us solve our animal mystery....

We feed the birds on a wooden skid under our large old Hemlock. It makes for nice cover from the Hawks. This summer my husband is finding holes around the feeder. From 2 inches to 5-6 inches big. He put small rocks in them and that didn't help. Then he used moth balls. They dug new holes nearby. Then he piled some old heavy bricks on the feeder and they were knocked to the ground and scattered around!

Now we are finding branches about 16 inches long chewed off our Trumpet Vine that hangs over the garage door! And we found two bird nests on the grass last week.

We have never seen who is doing these things.

Something also steals the suet cakes out of the suet holder in the Maple in the front yard. He plans to wire this shut. It is one of those upside down feeders and placed way out at the end of a slender branch.

We do see a Racoon now and then also an Opposum. Seen one regular sized Chipmunk this summer and only once. Sqirrels eat at the skid all the time. No Skunks for several years. We live in South West Penna.

Do you have any ideas or advice for us?

Thank you,

Shirley
