I just found out that A. asperula = Antelopehorn Milkweed is the same type flower. I would love to get seeds of either A. asperula = Antelopehorn Milkweed or Antelope-Horn Milkweed (Asclepias viridis).

I think that they like it 50 and above. So the big bloomers find a pass to get inside. I have big doors and a large glass top coffee table so it is easy to bring them in. When bloomers are brought in I get lots of smiles. Non bloomers are less welcome inside. That works because the bloomers are too big to fit in the heated greenhouse. The small ones will mount on cork. They also do well potted. Mine get a terra cotta pot filled with red lava rock. The pot is in a hanging wood basket. They seem to defend themselves from dividing by weaving the canes together. They will make keikis. If they grow over the pot and attach to the basket I do the basket in a basket trick like pot in a pot. As to not disturb the roots. One of them has 3 baskets now. I think there is one more size up then I'll see what is next... They get morning sun and lots of water. When potting, they must be on top of the medium, not in it. Secured by rhizome clips.

Dear Sheila, I have been doing this for 3 years. I have always loved plants and enjoy being surrounded by them in my home. I wanted to create somewhat naturalistic plantings of orchids on mounts (mopane wood and cork are my favorites) that get sufficient humidity and air circulation, and light from windows (supplemented by floor lamps). So I have a variety of heavy wide bowls (actually, laboratory desiccators), urns, globe bowls (10-16’ diam.), cylinders, and square and rectangular vases. I put pebbles (or clear plastic box lids or mineral display stands) in the bottom and water that doesn’t reach the top of the pebbles or other props. As possible I’ll put multiple plants with similar needs in one container, sometimes with tiny plants hanging on larger ones. The plants mostly fill each container, so humidity is maintained (verified with a hygrometer). In 2 of my windows the containers sit in a large gray rotationally molded plastic tray that covers the entire bench or wooden shelving unit (the largest of these is 49 ¼ x 23 ½ x 1 ½”). So I can mist and squirt without concern, and in the winter, can dump water in the tray for extra moisture in the area. I think what I do is just decorative and really no different from what others do with egg crate and Rubbermaid bins. Some orchids I’ve not put on mounts yet and still have in pots propped in an urn, globe or cylinder. My catts are pot-in-pot, with the outer pot being decorative ceramic (and no water in the bottom).
