Black and red insect infestation

Hello everyone,

I have been researching to figure out what kind of bug has recently taken a liking to the back of my house. We have never had this problem in previous years.

It seems to be either a boxelder or a milkweed bug, depending on the source. As there are multiple stages and variations of these insects, I am a little confused.

However, from what I have read, these bugs eat plant matter -- not other insects! I have observed them devouring many stink bugs, as well as each other, earwigs, and ants!

This photograph is a handful of them sucking through the hard shell of a stink bug on my back deck. I have also found them hanging out on the cement below the deck, as well as inside the house.
