A forest will choke out a thicket, I often recomend that fruit and nut trees be planted on purpose, so that we lock up carbon and produce food for ourselves, and chocke out the brush plants that are unpleasent to walk through. When you go on a hike along a tail it seems that you are always either bordered by clearing/lawn or by a thicket, but once you break through that thicket you can useually travle quite quickly and easily and have plenty of space to move about. The main reasonfor removing trees and brush historicly wasn't to make things more pleasent, it was to open up land for agricultural use. with a field we can grow staple cerial grains, or legumes, or use it as pasture for animals, while some trees may provide seasonal food for some critters it takes alot of work to survive off of them year round (and trust me when I say thing, willow does not taste that good) . Our modenr day lawns were not contrived from thin air, you need to look at were they came from to understand how they fit in. Lawns are popular mainly in the south (sure, lots of people like them, but in the south they are sick for them) the south had a large portion of its caucasian inhabitants come from scotland (the southern drawl is very closely related to the scots accent) in schotland they have huge green field that are kept down to a few inches all summer long, this is because there is alot of rain and people raise sheep. Now, in the south there isn't as much water in the summer, and there aren't as many sheep, but people still liked the look of home so a lawn with mowers and irrigation is what they came up with.

Last week boneless pork loin roast regularly $3.99/lb was $1.88 on sale at Kroger, bought two for the freezer. We have a locally owned store that usually has very good sales and this week bone-in loin end chops are $1.59. These same chops, and country-style ribs, used to be on sale for $0.99/lb. Pork necks are $0.89 and never go on sale. We haven't had good pork butt sales, lately, but a few months ago we got it for $0.99/lb. This is gulf coast Tx area. Edit: Pork necks are $1.09...sheesh! I ran across this recipe years ago and am under orders from the family to serve it on Christmas day. It is delicious! Note: do not substitute an inexpensive Amaretto in this recipe. It does not give the flavor which Amaretto di Saronno imparts. PORK ROAST SARONNO 3 pound pork roast 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce 1/2 cup catsup 1/2 cup cider vinegar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup dark corn syrup 1/2 cup water 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 tablespoon cornstarch 4 tablespoons Amaretto di Saronno Roast the pork in the usual manner. Combine the next 7 ingredients and cook over low heat 5 minutes. Blend cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of the mixture and add to the rest, stirring until slightly thickened. Stir in Amaretto and simmer 10 minutes. 30 minutes before the roast is finished, remove pan drippings and cover the meat with 1/3 of the sauce. Roast 15 minutes and baste the roast with another 1/3 of sauce. Roast another 15 minutes. Make gravy from the drippings, adding 2 tablespoons of the sauce and any remaining pan drippings. I use a can of chicken broth to extend the amount of gravy. Serve remaining sauce with the roast. Serves 6. Note: Before roasting the pork I butterfly it open and stuff it with the common turkey type bread, celery, onion, plus seasonings stuffing then reroll and tie with string. Also, I make this weeks ahead and freeze the roast whole, the gravy and sauce each separately. Defrost in fridge. At serving time I slice the roast and heat gently in the gravy, serve on a platter. Heat remaining tomato sauce to pass. Hint: double the tomato sauce recipe. Everyone loves it and pours it generously over the meat and mashed potatoes.

When i was in N.Y. state a couple years ago my sister took me to a craft store that we don't have here in Calif.I bought some wood pieces to paint and they didn't have the book or the handouts to go with them,so i pulled out my camera and took pictures as well.Ya do what ya gotta do.LOL By the way those are soooooooo cute.
